QFT. Dudes in here just trying to be in the minority hating on this, thinking they're on some hip hop elitist #%#*. The people in here talking #$%# about the album probably only listened to like 20 secs of each song and were like this is wack, trying to justify their hate by not even giving it a chance.
same can be said for dude who listened to 2 tracks and start talkin like this is the best thing since Sgt. Peppers

true true. But cmon man you know what I mean though, it's like dudes aren't even giving this a chance. Like they're forcing themselves to hate this album.

And maybe it's just me, but I haven't really been that big of a Jay-z fan in years. Hearing him rap about mostly his money and Beyonce and then trying to be introspective now and then just isn't doing it for me anymore.

I feel you. MBDTF was a lot more complete and flowed so perfectly together. Don't get me wrong this album is very good. There's some amazing tracks and Jay killed it but it just feels like it could have had a more solid construction. It's going to take a few weeks for this to settle in. MBDTF hit me right off the bat and only got better with time. This one needs a few spins and hopefully it really grows on me because the standout tracks BANG!

Album is definitely kinda all over the place.

Personally, I can listen from the first track to Gotta Have It and then it starts to get inconsistent.

You listening to it in order?

@ craig .... Well if you're not a fan of Jay then chances are you won't like this

Don't get me wrong, I used to LOVE Jay. BP1 and Black Album are two of my favorite albums. I enjoyed American Gangster a lot as well. I LOVED his verses on So Appalled and Monster. I just feel like a lot of his content I can't get into anymore. Maybe I'm just getting more into lyricism now and this album isnt it. Maybe I'm riding MBDTF too much, but that album told a story from start to finish. Not only was every song pretty damn good, but the album told a story. IMO it was truly a work of art.

I'll give this a few more listens, there are a few tracks I love, but a few I could care less for. No Church In the Wild though

Even if he did, is he "wrong" for saying that? I don't agree with thy either, but it's the man's opinion.

Then you have a track like Welcome to the Jungle... it could have been a GREAT song, but Swizz ruins it, and Kanye has like 4 bars
roll.gif
same with Why I Love You... Yeezy says 2 words, and I don't like Mr. Hudson on it at all. Imagine them putting Cudi or Frank on the hook for this one and changing up the whole hook.

My bad, didn't mean to double post.

I'm going to reserve judgement on this album until I spin it at least three times. Production wise this is a very crisp and clean album.

I gave the entire thing a listen last night. Very dope production of course but I was a little underwhelmed. Probably shouldn't have looked through this thread before listening because it was getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over hyped in here
laugh.gif

Its a good album don't get me wrong, but its not better than MBDTF which is the measuring stick because it was the last great album and judging by the replies you woulda though this BLEW it out of the water

This album IS absolutely unprecedented, production wise, from any other album in hip hop. Yes, there are other musical genres which have accomplished much more in this vein, but we're all here to discuss this hip hop album. You cannot name me another hip hop album that sounds anything even remotely close to this. Throwing shots talking about people's musical tastes really is only an excuse to exhibit personal displeasure with fans, stans, and the artists involved (also a convenient way for noted stans of other artists who will not be named to get their two cents in). But I digress. And its funny to me that people are trying to make it seem like its nt'ers overhyping this album when in fact the album has almost universally been praised by critics and most people I know who have absolutely no clue what a niketalk is seem to enjoy the album. Maybe...just maybe, it's actually pretty good. *Kanye shrugs*

Bonus cuts sound more like vintage Ye', sound better than some of the album cuts (except that Lex Luger crap, so out of place).
