This isn't a team that is going to win a lot of games this year, and I think we all should of expected that going in.
Ingram, Zo, they're going to be learning a lot as this season goes and will make a fair amount of mistakes on the way.
I rode with the D Lo trade which sounds hypocritical but I had personal feelings about intangibles which aren't really debatable because everyone feels differently about things like that. No problem with anyone that feels otherwise, though, I debated it when it happened. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if D Lo finds his way to an all-star out in BK, I just didn't think the way he approached games was conducive to winning meaningful basketball. Never called him a rat or snitch, wasn't crazy about him in college but gave him a fair chance as far as my meaningless critique goes. Pretty sure I sang his praises here after the Cleveland game, but I admit, I was a prisoner of the moment there. Honestly, I hope I'm wrong about him and he becomes a great player because I have no ill feelings towards him, but I think when it comes down to who I'd rather have as a primary ball handler, I am a big fan of Zo's approach to the game and his demeanor as opposed to D Lo and I think his upside is better. (Yes, Ball avy, I know)
Zo seemed uncomfortable as an aggressor on offense, once he missed a few he checked out from shooting. Also, he was not holding the ball for more than 2 seconds for awhile. Pat Bev was making sure he was in that *** all night. I think it's going to be a very up and down season for him, honestly kind of still wish we got Rondo just to mentor him a little because apparently the young guys in Chicago sung his praises as far as his leadership went, which was surprising to me. But, the kid has a good head on his shoulders, and honestly seems dedicated to the game more than you see most 19 year olds that come in the league these days. Dude is pretty damn mature and composed considering the circus around him too. Needs to start being more comfortable with the ball in his hands though, saw a lot of overpassing at times and while it's great that he is always looking to set someone up, he is a 6'7" PG that seemed to do a good job of finishing at the rim in college when he attacked and if he does that more it opens up more people around him.
Ingram has the ability, the body really needs to fill out though. Defensively, his footwork seemed sound and I think he can still cause problems on that end in the future too. He plays awkwardly at times on offense and it can be uncomfortable to watch
But, I do think he's gonna put it together. He has a pretty good understanding of the game and while he seems checked out most the time, I think he's just one of those Klay Thompson type guys
Dude can get to the rim, as ugly as it can look sometimes. Just needs to bulk up and become a better finisher. Consistency on shooting needs to come along as well. Don't think he will be Giannis but I think his progression to be similar to his/Hayward's still.
I'd like to see a little more variation in the offensive sets though, things seemed very stagnant more often than not. Again, it's only the first game.
Some of the lineups Luke rode with confused me as well. Deng starting threw me off too. He just hasn't had starter production in years.
KCP will help the starting lineup out, but the PF position was a weird mess today. Julius has so much to potentially offer but he's just not clicking with the game mentally still. Nance plays his *** off but he has his limitations. Kuz had I think unnecessary expectations put on him by the general fanbase and while he has some upside, isn't that guy yet and needs some time. I still think he will end up a great role player but we'll see.
Didn't realize how long this was in hindsight, and I don't post in here often, but I love this team and like to chirp in every now and then.
