**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Russ playing out of position has nothing to do with him missing layups, jumpers and turning the ball over so maybe Russ should take some accountability...

I agree Russ definitely was lacking very much in that department but they didn't do him any favors. But when you have a guy come in and bill him on having a certain role, publicly you have other players lobbying for "let Russ be Russ" while simultaneously not putting him in position to play to the strengths he does have, then a cluster surely is more likely.

I'm sorry, but we not putting the Russ role on Frank Vogel. Frank wasn't at ANY of those meetings between Bron, AD, and Russ. Those 3 got together, and they all claimed they would do whatever to make it work. They did that. Frank wasn't there. Players don't bring in their coaches to those type of meetings.

Then Russ came in and suddenly wasn't trying to do whatever he could to fit in. Forget offense, we KNOW Frank never once told him to wander off his own ****ing man. We KNOW Frank never told him to go for dumb *** steals 80 feet from the rim. We KNOW Frank never told him to stand still while the rebound was live and Russ's man was hustling past him to get it.

Say whatever you want about Frank, that ain't what he teaches defensively, ever. Russ screwed all that stuff up on his own, THEN added missed layups and bricked jumpers galore. And we wanna blame someone else for that? :lol Nope.

Russ got ran outta OKC.
Russ got ran outta Houston.
Russ got ran outta Washington.
Russ boutta get ran outta LA.

4 teams, in 4 years. Frank was only there for one of them. And Frank publicly supported him the entire time. And Frank is the one that lost his job.

Spacing requires threat. Triangle doesn't fix non threats, therefore the spacing is still poor.
Disagree 100%. Spacing requires players who know how to be in proper position, regardless if the player is considered a threat or not.

The triangle turned Fisher, Fox, Shaw, Brown, Farmar, etc into "threats."

Prior to the triangle none of these guys were "threats." Look at Fisher under Del Harris, for example. Or Fox in Boston, Shaw in ORL. After leaving the triangle, what happened to Farmar and Shannon Brown? Absolutely nothing.

In fact, the triangle even extended Ron Harper's career. It did wonders for Horace Grant too. Under Doug Collins in CHi or Brian Hill in ORL, Horace was not as effective as he was with Phil. And this was because of the triangle.

Russ didn’t get ran outta any of those places sans LA. He asked to be traded. And crazy that somehow all those different coaches/places got him to be effective playing for them after a rough start to the season with him getting acclimated to the team. The Lakers/Vogel gave up after a week in. I was speaking about offense because that's what he was brought in for.

its still **** frank vogel!

Phoenix coaching staff attacking luka on defense all day and won.

GS coaching staff chose not to attach Ja every time down and lost because of it.

Coaching matters. Idk what to tell you. I think Vogel would’ve came up with a great plan to defend Luka. It’s just his offense sucks. The default system is whatever the star wants to do lol.

So Boss thinks the Triangle makes players shoot better.

Ska thinks Chris Paul needs help from his coach to run a PnR over and over against a weak defender.

Mamba thinks Frank Vogel quit working with Russ after one week, and 4 teams in 4 years isn’t being ran out of town. And Russ was only brought in for offense……?

And SoHi, if Klay was Klay, they win game 2 as well, just like they won game 1......but I got enough on my plate for today so you're gonna have to take a number. :lol

It's really crazy how different my opinion of Russy is now compared to this same time a year ago. "Used to be my homie, used to be my ace..."

Now I definitely absolutely wanna slap the taste out of his sorry *** dress wearing mouth

Remember when there was a rumor after the title that we might go all in on a Cp3 trade to okc. Damn how that woulda been epic. As much as I hate Cp3.

Oh the lies we tell ourselves out of pompous dismissals. 😂

You lyin to yourself, not me.

If you think Chris Paul needs Monty Williams to tell him anything, I don't know what to tell you.

What, Monty just learned the meaning of life suddenly and is now an elite coach? CP wouldn't have ran 50 pick and rolls with any other coach? He been doin it since Day 1 man. He runs that action a hundred times a night, every team he's played for.

I mean the articles are all out there about them basically abandoning Russ being a PG after those first terrible games. And wait you're saying he WASN'T brought in for his offensive abilities?
