**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

If we can somehow give up deng or mozgov for PG, that would be the only acceptable trade for me

I've heard podcasts where Paul George's people are telling the lakers not to trade for him because he doesn't want to play for a gutted team & to just wait for him in free agency. Not sure who (I guess Indy?) is pushing this PG trade.
Don't think any party is "pushing" for a trade. Just that the writing might be on the wall for a change.

Yup. Worst kept secret in the league. PG13 is coming just a matter if the Pacers will let him walk for nothing after next summer or take back a poo poo platter for him and maybe unload one of those terrible contracts in the process for us. If we keep the pick, we'll wait, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they make a serious play to get him this summer.

Luol Deng,Clarkson, and future pick for PG....would you guys do this trade?

Depends. If we keep the pick, I'd say wait until he's hits free agency and then consolidate some of the pieces. We'll have a jam at the F spots with Randle/BI/PG13/Nance. Unless Randle is willing to go to the bench, I'd move him, he has a little more value at this point than JC, I think.

This is the type of dumb **** 90% of the Lakers/Knicks fans think is possible

"Hey how about one of the worst contracts in the entire league, our regressing combo guard and a future pick once we're actually good for your franchise player"

At the deadline we offered them their choice of Nerlens or Okafor plus Covington and both your unprotected 1st rounder next year and the Kings unprotected 1st rounder the following year and they declined.

Good luck.

He doesn't want to go to Philly though.

Diminishing returns the longer time goes on, just look at what Sac got for Boogie and he had another year on his deal as well. You never get fair return for a superstar. Ball is in Bird's court, we'll see if he lets Magic beat him again, this time as an executive.

Only caveat is if PG somehow makes an All-NBA team this year or next. It's unlikely this year, but who knows how the media will vote with Durant's injury and Butler possibly missing the playoffs.

I can't see him (or anyone) walking away from the super max if it gets offered.

The PG13 ball is definitely on the Lakers side.

They just need to be patient, Indy will definitely call the Lakers seeing what they would like to offer.

I'd give up Clarkson, Randle, & Deng/Moz.

True. I don't think he gets it though. Bron/Kawhi/AD/Giannis/Hayward/Draymond or KD pretty much have those spots locked up one would think.

You're gunna be really mad when you see what LA gives up for him then.

A - it doesn't matter if he wants to go to Philly or not, he doesn't have a no-trade clause

B - you fail to realize there is a humongous difference between trading for a complete head case who has been on nothing but losing teams that have one of the worst, if not the worst, front office in the league and were on their way to another terrible season....to a guy that's made the playoffs basically every year of his career and is still currently on a playoff team as is and should be in the prime of his career as one of the top SF's in the league.

C - even with it obvious that Boogie would need to be traded at some point the dysfunctional *** Kings and Vlade were still able to get the Pelicans first round pick and this year's #6 pick who was basically the Pelicans 2nd or 3rd best player....not their choice of one of the worst contracts in the league, a regressing combo guard and Julius Randle's bum *** or a future pick years from now.

D - why the **** do you want PG right now anyway? Your team is a LOT more pieces than him away from competing and Paul George isn't even making the Pacers a contender in the East, let alone make the second worst team in the league any good.

Build around your draft picks and let them develop instead of thinking you need to go for the big fish just cause you're the Lakers.

More like 45%. A lot of us have sense. The ones that don't just stand out more.

And I agree. Keep building through the draft. Especially if we get a top 3 pick this year.

A. If he's not going to resign in Philly, why would you trade for him. His people from all indications have said it's LA or IND for him.

B. I know there's a difference between the players themselves, but their talent is still comparable. But since you want to do that, take him off the table. Did Orlando get value back for Dwight? How about NO with CP0? Or Denver with Melo? You're always going to lose in the trade when you're giving up a star. Y

C. You're analysis of the Lakers talent is laughable. There was a lot of interest in JC at the trade deadline. And you're completely missing the point. Larry was apparently asking for a king's ransom at the trade deadline for PG. PG made it clear in his own words he wasn't happy with how they dealt with the situation. Getting a disgruntled star almost always results in a bad return. Indy isn't a place that screams attraction to talent.

D. I want PG whether it's now or in free agency. If/when he comes here pieces are going to be moved regardless. Just a matter of which ones. There isn't going to be a gutting of the team (BI, D'Lo, Zu, top 3 hopefully for him) he'll still have plenty around him.

E. Lakers future > Sixer's future

Dario > anybody currently on the Lakers

Simmons >>>>>>>>>>>>> anybody currently on the Lakers

Embiid if healthy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anybody currently on the Lakers

Brett Brown >>>> Luke Walton

Your only decent piece on your team most of your fanbase wants off the team.
