**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

For me it seems like the lakers didn’t think their rookie pick would contribute this year anyway so let’s take a long term project instead.

Podz, Jaquez & Whitmore being the 3 next picks after jhs hurts but hopefully the long term bet pays off.

I feel like they thought they could get a similar prospect in Lewis and get the best pg available at 17. So basically they're counting on JHS+Lewis>>Cam

Seems like the initial response from Laker fan base is to mostly hate any rookies that the team drafts LOL

I still remember the Mudiay > DLo debates from back in the day... just be patient and let things play out guys.

Not true.

We loved Kuz. We loved Austin (even thought he wasn't a draft pick). We loved BI.

JHS just doesn't make sense with Cam on the board. If Cam wasn't on the board I don't think we would be having this convo. (Maybe)

There was a lot of BI’s a bust talk… Kuz better and so forth. Austin was undrafted so no real expectations there.

Not sure if makes sense to draft a wing player so high when there’s already a logjam at that position.

These guys b**** about coaches that win titles for them, zero doubt they whinin about rookies during preseason, c'mon.

LA's scouting dept has been top 3-4 in the league grabbing guys that can actually play in the league. (Health willing, Zo wise) but they also have misses like anyone else. (Passing on Tatum)

Fired off a quick take while watching some football but there’s truth in what I said and truth in what tupac003 tupac003 was saying as well… it’s never really one thing, neither bad or good. Sometimes it feels like the negative stuff is just louder.

I think it’s fair to say Laker Nation isn’t really the most patient fanbase… we want championships, we’ve seen excellence and that’s the standard. We all know it takes a minute for young guys to figure out how to play, but not everybody is that understanding. In the case of JHS, he could be the right pick but he could also be a miss. I just think it’s too early to call…

All good though

If JHS shot was falling, we wouldn't even be having these questions.

He does a little bit of everything, so I'd be patient with him. When he puts it together, he'll be hell to deal with for smaller guards.

WTF is this coming from lmao

Hayes been surprising a lot of folks this preseason who never in their minds thought Jaxson had this many tools in his tool chest.

People haven't even seen Hayes shoot threes yet. Wait til his turn comes, cause he can make em from deep....

Me thinks Ham is keeping the AD/Hayes/Bron starting frontcourt in his back pocket and saving it for later.

Seniority first so Prince, Vando, Wood, Rui gonna get first priority on being that fifth starter. Hayes will work himself into that starting lineup eventually, as he continues to get better and better as the season progresses.

This we do know already....
Hayes has excelled all preseason long when sharing the floor with DLo, Bron, and AD.

Hayes is SOLID.

I think playing in NO, meaningless basketball with no vets its easy to see why he may have been overlooked or written off.

Playing with structure and urgency going to do wonders for his game here.

He's been an EXCELLENT passer so far, he usually looks to pass first when he's the roll man.

He's got good hands, great anticipation and rotation on D.

He's played within himself so far, I haven't seen him take any bad shots or play hero.

He just looks like a solid all around BASKETBALL PLAYER

If he can knock down his FT's consistently, he's going to be a problem for other teams.

Already showing he's more than D.Jones or Javale.

He is just being a star in his role is all it really comes down to.

Andrew Bynum is a perfect example of Hayes' role on this team
