**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

17 rebounds. 7 offensive. 2 blks. 2 stls. plus-15. 75% FGs.

Who the hell was guarding Hartelstein?

The Knicks bullied the Lakers tonight. And Ham had no answer.

What they get for sleepwalkin’ on winnable games. Maybe it takes this team being dead last for Rob to have the balls to fire coach pockets

It’s not a matter of Robs balls

Jeanie would have to pay Ham plus the next coach. Paying two coaches at the same time isn’t something most owners wanna do

Especially Jeannie. But im willing to bet Cuban and other win-now owners would pull the trigger

Who you think looks more like a coach and who looks more like an assistant?

The problem with Ham - dude doesn't get the best out of his role players night in night out. His preparation is horrible, and it's obvious when you watch how the Lakers play with very little rhythm, they don't sustain leads, and they are known for starting off slow. This all points to preparation, or lack thereof. Ham isn't the best X's and O's guy either and what we get is what we're seeing - tremendous inconsistency and ugly, non-flowing and rhythmless basketball.

Get Ham all the way up outta here and hire Budz ASAP.

Non-LeBron Forwards:
Prince 2 rebounds 39 minutes
Rui 2 rebounds 17 minutes
Vando 2 rebounds in 14 minutes

70 minutes, 6 rebounds.

Running the same dumb 4th quarter lineup, and losing, again and again. When it’s not your most productive lineup in the 4th. Possibly your worst when you’re playing from behind.

Main two guards are fine.
Bron and AD is fine.

But everything else, isn’t remotely close.

If Ham wants to win like 9 straight, he'd start DLo, Vando, Bron, Wood, and AD with Bron running the point on offense while DLo plays shooting guard. Vando switches on everything and gets all the hustle points, second chance opps, etc. AD and Wood handle the boards.

2nd unit: AR, Max, Prince or Cam at the 3 whoever hot, Rui at the 4, Hayes at the 5.

-Vando is back. Stop playing him like he’s the 12th man. Yeah the offensive deficiencies are prominent. But the point was him to be the main defender. And you can’t trade him this year. So play him.

-Prince is not a starter. Ham’s reliance on him is obscene. You paid Rui. You paid Vando. Play one of the two of them. 13 shots. All 3s. He made 3. I don’t care what he’s shot lately. He’s not the swing of a decent team to a good team. He’s a 7th, 8th man at best.

-Play DLo in the 4th. I don’t care what’s going on. Play the guy. They’re losing games with him glued to the bench in the 4th anyway. And they are not winning any big games with closing with Prince and Cam as the replacement.
Same with whenever AR has gotten 4th quarter DNPs. It’s nonsensical. You want a different closing lineup, sure sometimes it’s needed. Then you start the 4th with DLo.
But their best 4 in DLo/AR/Bron/AD have really good 4th quarter results.

-They are going to make a dumb trade like DLo for someone who doesn’t directly replace DLos role and they will suffer for it. Because it’ll then be the offense functions at an even worse rate.
If you’re trading DLo, it needs to be for someone who can score and also get the ball to AD consistently.

-They have 2, maybe 3 trades they need to make.
1. They have to clear out the jam-packed Prince, Rui, Vando, Cam roles. Vando can’t be traded. Bron is playing 33-35 minutes. There’s no need for all of them. They need a forward who rebounds, plays any semblance of defense. And can hit a catch and shoot 3 consistently.
2. Backup Center minutes to AD. Wood is fine because he rebounds. But they aren’t playing him. And even if they were playing Wood it doesn’t feel like enough.
And Ham needs to be saved from himself with Hayes’ minutes.
3. The Caruso trade, if it’s there.

Prince with more minutes (38+) than everyone but Bron.. I like Prince as a rotation player, but Ham got no chill for him. While Reddish/Prince have been better than expected, HAM fell in love. Rui/Vando went from being big parts of the finals run last year to expensive 15 minute bench players. Wood had a few times he crapped the bed, but has generally been solid, yet racking up DNPs.

Can’t get out-rebounded by 10+ an expect wins consistently

It was a tough loss.

We had some opportunities and just couldn't get it done.

Gotta get the win Wednesday.

Really not a fan of Bron's minutes in the second half lately (Mavs and Knicks game). Ham been taking him out at ~4 minute mark of the third then re-inserts him back at the ~2 minute mark. Then he plays the entire fourth quarter.
