**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

If Ham would've only gone 2-Big from the start and been more consistent with those bigger lineups, then maybe his team wouldn't be playing catch up the entire game against DEN. LAL never led in the game cause they were playing too small in the 1st half.

Ham and his staff need to wisen up. This is a different game with DLo imo, Ham just gotta go with a bigger lineup and use Hayes a lot more against DEN

This ain't nothing new with Jaxson against the Nuggets.

Keep LeBron from pounding the air out of the ball at the end of the game is a solid recipe going forward.
Give DLo and AR most of that responsibility to keep the offense from stagnating.

Hayes looked good. He isn’t actually a good player, but has to compensate with undeflected effort.

I’m not down about their chances at all.

"Overall the Lakers need to get more physical with their play [against Denver] and not get pushed around so much. Denver was more physical. "

-Rob Horry, 7 Rings.

Interestingly enough, in the 2020 WCF, it was the other way around.

Lakers know what they need to do.

That’s when Murray took over…. But something something big man something something Hayes starting something something Ham sandwich 😂
Watch the game.

Without Hayes impact in the 4th, this team loses by 18.

your hs coach probably didn't know what to do with that 6-10, 6-9, 6-7 frontcourt of yours. You win state? 😂

Won state 2x.

But anyway, Hayes had some good minutes while Joker was on the bench (which the Lakers should win regardless since Lebron was on the floor) and a couple of good hustle plays when Joker returned... I'm happy with how Hayes played.

The Lakers have enough talent and size to be competitive against the Nuggets... but Denver down the stretch can always go to the Joker/Murray two man game and generate a great shot whenever they want. Haven't looked it up, but it felt like Bron missed every shot he took in the 4th besides a layup...and AD didn't shoot enough (but that's another argument for another day)

It's not that they don't have enough talent or size....

It's all about how Ham utilizes his personnel. Tonight's game is a different game with Vando hounding Murray and the new consistent DLo scoring 25 with 3-5 threes to offset Murray's 29.

But the problem is, Ham doesn't know how to best use his personnel.

Without great coaching, this team won't be able to overcome because Bron is no longer 30, and AD can't do it all by himself inside.

The 2 stars need more help from "the
others" and ultimately it's Darvin's responsibility and job to get the most out of the role players that Pelinka brought in this summer to help the core group.

If he doesn't get them to improve and win games consistently, and if Ham sandwich finishes the season around .500, and if the Lakers don't make the playoffs, Ham will be an assistant next season with the Detroit Pistons.

The coach's responsibility to put the players in the best position to succeed...and then it's on the players to execute and make shots. Tonight, this team really needed something from Rui since DLo was out but instead he was pretty much useless. He was given an opportunity to step up, and maybe if he gives you 10-13 points instead of 2 then it's probably a different ball game.

Anyhow, regardless of how they got there...fact of the matter is that it was a tie game with two minutes remaining. Here's how those last possessions ended:

- LeBron James misses 5-foot two point shot
- Austin Reaves misses 26-foot three point jumper
- Austin Reaves misses driving layup
- LeBron James makes driving layup
- Anthony Davis misses 25-foot three point pullup jump shot

Lakers had an opportunity, but their stars did not make shots while the Nuggets did. They got great looks with relative ease, the Lakers either settled or took shots. And there's your ball game.
