I cannot understand why you guys still believe he's going to the Lakers. Melo is committed to the Knicks. It's really ESPN and the media that make it seem like he's not.

I'd be shocked if he left, honestly. Part of this reason is because MDA is the coach. Melo dislikes MDA very much and MDA doesn't like Melo too much either.

MDA at one point asked to trade Melo and gave the front office an ultimatum. It was either they trade Melo and keep him or he goes. He got fired a few weeks later

As long as MDA is coach, Melo won't go to the Lakers. Besides, I don't think you guys have the cap space for Melo. I might be wrong though. I haven't looked into it too closely. Maybe one of you guys can give me some perspective on the Lakers cap situation.

I'm not in agreement with any Carmelo Anthony opinions that favor him becoming a Los Angeles Laker.

But that doesn't stop me from reading and trying to comprehend the rest of their posts if they genuinely attempt to back up their opinion with valid reasoning.

He made some good points, how can anyone not agree with defense being more than just individual skill?
Does that mean that Lakers should be playing Spurs type defense with anyone? NO! Not at all.
It doesnt mean we should be great all the time. It doesnt mean D'Antoni is 100% at fault for our team being so bad right now.

No one is going to any of those extremes.

All dude is saying is defense CAN BE IMPROVED, no matter what individual talent is on a roster.

Are you really going to sit there and say a professional basketball coach for a team full of PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYERS cant make ANY SORTS of improvements? He cant help these kids at all?

AGain, no one expects this team to win. And no one is saying improvement has to be DRASTIC.
Obviously Kendell Marshall and Jodie Meeks arent going to make the 1st team All-Defensive squad because of some coaching.

All he is saying is that a BASKETBALL COACH SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP HIS BASKETBALL PLAYERS play better TEAM DEFENSE.

Better can be something as small as better on defensive rotations, better on boxing out, better on pick and rolls... etc, etc...

It doesnt mean better has to be EXTREMELY BETTER to the point where the team turns into a championship contender.

No one is saying anything that extreme. No one is saying D'Antoni is solely responsible for the lack of defensive talent on our team. No one is saying D'Antoni is responsible for our injury riddled team. No one is saying D'Antoni is at fault for having a roster full of scrubs to coach.

All he is saying is D'Antoni would be a better coach if he had the ability to at least help these young players play a little better when it comes to TEAM DEFENSE.
It could be anything miniscule... just any visible improvements... instead of being absolutely crushed in every area of defense on every game night.

How is that such an INVALID opinion exactly?

Is he asking the coach to work miracles? Is asking for a coach to be able to help his professional basketball roster to at least IMPROVE just a tad bit in their defense really the same as asking him to work miracles?

When you get paid 4-5 Million dollars to do a job, shouldnt you be expected to do it as best as you can?

I just dont get how its so unreasonable to ask a guy making so much money and with such a big "resume" of success (minus actually winning) to be better at helping his team understand how to play defense.

How is that unreasonable to ask for? No matter who is playing?

No one is saying go out there and make these scrubs shut teams down to only 75 points a night.
no one is saying hold teams to 80, 90, or even 100 points. All were saying is show us that you can teach these kids at least how to box-out properly on defense so were constantly not being killed on the boards by double digits.

Show us anything.

It doesnt have to be wins, it doesnt have to be shutting down LeBron, it doesnt have to be locking down super stars, it doesnt have to be anything drastic at all...

^ I actually think it's a decent chance. Whether that's good or bad, who cares, I don't care to debate it.

Also Hank please don't play me 12 months ago with the Dwight saga, it's not a lock. To say the story lines don't mirror themselves is really ignoring a lot of what is happening
