Not a trick really. You simply walk up to the check-in counter with your ID and credit card already out, then before you hand it to the worker, you fold up a $20 in between them making a sandwich with it. You leave it poking out just a little bit so they can see it when you hand it to them and you simply ask them, "Are there any complimentary upgrades you can give us?". The thing has about a 75% success rate from my friends and my experience.
The worker usually takes the bill, hides it somewhere, and starts typing away until they have you in a room better than the one you registered for.
i was gonna try that for the first time a few weeks as i was checking into the NYNY. but they had a display on the counter about upgrades and how you could "upgrade" to a better room for $15. i did and it wasnt even worth it

It's not bad. But if you're looking for mainly hip-hip, cross XS off ya list.Originally Posted by playmaker86

What's the pool scene like out there?
I'm probably going to go back in June and would want to stay somewhere with a sick pool (no Hard Rock).
Also, how do you all go about getting comps from the casino? Do you just ask to be rated when playing a table game and once you finish up ask if your average bet/play made you eligible for anything?
im no expert on vegas or the comp system, but from what I've seen the city is still hurtin right now. I didnt get out to vegas as much as I would have liked in '09 so I'm sure my players card acct was at 0. Went out there for my bachelor party back in January and played fairly low limits most of the time. $10 craps, $200 buy in, probably spent about 15 total hours at the craps table throughout the weekend. Pretty much broke even at the end of the weekend so no harm no foul. Since then MGM has been sending me comp offers for free weekend stays (most weekends, unfortunately they didnt offer for memorial day weekend when I have to be back there for another bachelor party). Usually I would have to play more to accrue enough points for free weekend comps, but looks like 15 hours at a $10 table was enough.Originally Posted by Mr Jordan04

i went to the rios pool a while back and it was cool. cool dj spinning hip hop and good music and waitresses walking around in g-strings. i just got an email that said they re-vamped the pool and it should open up soon (or maybe did already)
hows the pool at planet hollywood? if i go in may thats where im staying
i either heading out end of may or beginning of june.
im also trying to get info in comps. i have buddies who play (i dont play much) and they just hand the dealer their card and play. ive been around the table and see the pit boss come around a couple times an hour and mark down whos (still) playing and sometimes writes something on a lil piece of paper or inputs something on the computer
last time i was there i asked for change at a table a couple times and gave them my card. the pit boss took it and came back looking at me all shady
but if i got free rooms like my buddies do, id be there all the time! especially since its only a 4 hour drive 4m cali, but these room rates get expensive if you dont book with adequate time
Poetry in Caesar's Palace (top floor of Wolfgang Puck's restaurant) used to be the main Hip-Hop club on the strip, but I've heard things about them having shut down...Originally Posted by mike23theking
