There should be some worry about the Suns...

No Bledsoe, No TJ Warren. That's their 2-3 Scorers.
Interim Coach.
2-20 over the last 22.
Markieff Morris had a big game last night, and is a guy they almost have to trade due to locker room toxicity, and his value isn't too high because of it. That's their 4th scorer.
Also play us twice. Played them a month ago, and blew them out.

Not saying we're any good. Just highlighting how bad the Suns are. They're really bad right now.

I wasn't responding to you with my comment it was just a random thought about how bad we are. Pretty pathetic how we are one of the jokes of the league these days.

Byron certainly hasn't helped, but the majority of the team has been healthy all season. We still would be a bottom 5 team in terms of talent regardless of the coach.

Team coached by an average coach gets at least a half dozen more wins out of this team by now, and trending up due to actually playing the young players correctly.

Let's not try to downplay how significantly bad Byron has been.

No way in hell. Where? They may have 3 more wins, this roster is terrible in terms of the rest of the league. The Sixers are the only ones worse. Nets and Suns have been snake bitten by injuries to significant players. 3 rookies a 2nd year guy and an old vet is not winning in this league. Never has. No matter who the coach is. Let's not try and overstate Byron's impact either like he's taken a team from would be playoff contention to top 3 worst teams.

The guy who played Robert Sacre 16 mpg for 11 games in December.. When there wasn't an injury problem.
The guy who ran a Ryan Kelly / Brandon Bass front court at all in November, and has brought it back occasionally in the past couple weeks. After seeing how disastrous it was.
Playing MWP 18 minutes a game in November
Playing Kobe over 30 minutes through December.
Not getting Kobe in places to succeed. No off ball screens to get him an open mid-range shot, very few pick & rolls.. Didn't run plays to get him in the post. It's one thing to say Kobe is washed, but has a vice grip on the Lakers.. It's another to have a coach who plays him like he's still 26.
Playing Huertas over Russell in a handful of games.
Needlessly demoting Russell and Randle to the Bench.
Needlessly burying Russell & Randle, specifically Russell in public.
Not letting Russell finish games, when he's playing well... because it's too close, and then not playing because it's close enough, then saying it''s better to learn by watching.
Running a Zone, in the NBA
Having a defensive philosophy that allows a perimeter player to dig down in the post leading to open 3s.
Ignoring that Tarik Black exists.

There's a decent amount of wins in there from all of the nonsense of Byron.

And that's not even all of it. I was just getting more angry as a typed.

So you're saying in addition to the games they shouldn't have won against Boston, Detroit, and Washington they'd be somewhere around 16-18 wins at this point with an average coach. Smoking serious sherm.

Maybe three or four more wins, and an unquantifiable amount of development.

Exactly. They'd still be the worst team in the West, maybe swap spots with Brooklyn assuming health for all parties which clearly isn't the case.

They'd win 4... But there is no way they'd win 6.... Absolutely no way... Jesus Christ..

The unquantifiable development is where you go from 4 to 6, maybe 7... We have players who have played at a certain level for a guy who does nothing to put them in places to succeed. Perhaps a guy who got his head out of his ***, and didn't coach with his ego gets them to play at a slightly higher level. Due to providing confidence, reps to learn in game so similar situations provide different results in the future. And maybe by this point, they are even better.

4 is plausible, but 6 is doing drugs... :rollin

Also 4 wins ties them with Minny & Phoenix, and they blew 2 games against Minny. And almost blew the game last night versus Minnesota. Sooo there's more there to Minny being what they are, and a lot has to do with the guy coaching them as well

No I'm saying they should be a 7 win team right now and they won 3 games they shouldn't have regardless of the coach. They'd be right where they are. Byron's lack of coaching is not worth 6-8 more wins.

They've had to have Kobe turn the clock back 3 times to get 3 wins, Lou Will went off in another; the young guys played well last night and still probably should have blew that game last night if not for Kobe's antics. That's the team they are really, a young bunch that is limited by the talent to win against even bad to average teams in the league.

Even if the rotations were perfect, guys were in their proper roles etc. bottom line they're not enough good players to compete with 90% of the league.

Oh that's right... Teams never win games they are not supposed to.. Over 82 games, every game that a team is supposed to win, they win, and every game they are supposed to lose, they lose... That's why the 76ers are 0-47 right?

Teams win games they are not supposed to all the time. You likely get at least one a night on a full slate of basketball. Those wins would still happen. Maybe the same game, or a different game.. But those wins still happen.

Also Kobe turning back the clock, how many games has he shot them out of... That they could have won, that he didn't have it, and kept shooting, and kept shooting, and his playing put them down. Do you know why that happens? Because the coach doesn't get Kobe different types of shots for you know a 37 year old guy, and not a 26 year old.

Good lord.

Kobe's going to do Kobe regardless, it's been that way for 20 years.

But it's not surprising, lots of fans tend to overrate the talent we actually have especially in relation to the rest of the league.

But if we're going to count wins that a team shouldn't have... The Wolves are an 9 win team..

Bulls
Hawks 2x
Heat
Grizzles

8 wins if you think they shouldn't beat the Jazz

Brooklyn is a 5 win team....Have beaten the Hawks, Celtics 2x, Pistons, Bulls, Heat, Thunder... And you can throw in the Knicks & Rockets 2x

But yeah... Nobody else wins games they shouldn't.

Brooklyn when they were healthy has more talent than us. Wolves and Suns same thing. Who ever said nobody else wins games they shouldn't? Of the teams who were expected to be bad coming into the season we've had the best luck with health and still are the 2nd worst team in the league. All the others also have bad coaching and talent situations as seen by Hornacek and Hollins getting the boot and Mitchell doing his thing in Minny in addition to the injuries to key contributors. It all really washes out not to mean much when you factor in everything. Lakers are right where they should be and would maybe be marginally better with no Byron.
