AI was only gon get so much out of that frame before he crashed...
its crazy that iverson talks about "we were both at the top of our games"
and kobe went on to play another highly productive 12 years of basketball
he was stubborn like kobe but didn't put in the work to stay great nor did he work to grow as a leader/playerAI was only gon get so much out of that frame before he crashed...

Yea u can say that again
he was stubborn like kobe but didn't put in the work to stay great nor did he work to grow as a leader/player
Nah.So let's watch this thread burn for a second.
We all agree that Klay Thompson is a better player than DeMar DeRozan. He's only 6 months younger, but 2 years in experience less. So he has much more room to grow (theoretically). He also plays better defense.
And if you give me 10 choices, I pick Klay 10 times.
But to illustrate something.... DeMar DeRozan & Klay Thompson was basically a wash this year. They were equally as good as each other.
How? Klay was an important part of the greatest regular season team of all time
So how is it possible that they were a wash, when Klay shoots better from the field, and from 3?
But did it make a difference?
17.7 shots for DeRozan. 17.3 shots for Klay.
DeRozan averaged 23.5 PPG. Klay averaged 22.1 PPG.
Analytically the three most valuable ways to score are: Dunks, Free Throw & 3Pointers.
DeRozan gets to the line far more than Klay. DeRozan got to the line the 3rd most in the league. Behind Harden & Boogie Cousins.
The points that DeRozan lost to Klay by making 3s at 42% shooting them 8 times. He recouped much of it by getting to the line often over 8 times a game to Klay's 2.8 times a game.
Also DeRozan's OffRtg / DefRtg was 113/108 to Klay's 112/107.
DD Off & Def Win Share was 7.5 & 2.4 to Klay's 5.4 & 2.6
As long as DeRozan olays offensively like he did this year (gets to the line often, and keeps his midrange/long 2s in check). Add to his repertoire, by continuing to make 3s at the 33.3% mark, while taking about 1 more 3 a game. He ends up much closer to Klay Thompson offensively than anybody really could imagine.
Again, even with this. I take Klay over him. For many reasons. But just to put DeMar's past season in solid context.
He's talented. He's still got room to grow and entering his prime. Of course, I'd like the money to be smaller, but if he wants to be here, you jump at it

Eh, AI was pretty good those couple years in Denver.

At this very moment, I knew I was headed for a post on advanced stats.
Derozan is a better mathlete. Klay is a better basketball player.
So there's only one side of the court now? I'm sure his OMAF is comparable as well.DeMar DeRozan was pretty much the antithesis of analytics.
So saying he's a mathlete isn't close to an accurate description of him.
But absolutely Klay is the better basketball player. Now and in the future.
Still doesn't discount that DeMar was at worst as good as Klay this season.

He was garbage last playoffs too or basically anytime solid defense is being played.
@ all these people discounting demar's success due to a couple bad playoff games. if he was killing it for these past 2 games, u guys would be extra quiet right now.
oh for real? even during the regular season, too? guess they don't play solid defense in the regular season? lowry's playing like trash this playoff as well, but i don't see people say anything bad about him. what happens if demar breaks out the rest of the playoffs and does well, do u suddenly want him after a few good games?

Horrible comparison.
Soundin like Daryl Morey with useless analytics. Your team would end up lookin just like the current Rockets too with how much you base your opinions on players with advancedcalculus and biophysicsstatistics.
Taking the same amount of shots as someone else does not mean they make the same impact on both ends of a basketball court.
Try using live observation of basketball games more and less googling of OSTEFSCANZ ratings on a webpage to compare players and their skills.
using that logic, was kobe's play during his prime fraudulent as well? he was great at drawing free throws and lead the league in free throws shot...As good as klay...mathematically.
Thing about drawing free throws, you're relying on the refs to bail you out. There's no algorithm for "the refs are letting them play" . I don't think it's a coincidence that harden boogie and derozan are all 1st options on 3 of the most fraudulent teams in the league.
You said yourself that you'd take klay 10/10 times. So no, they aren't just as good.
