oh for real? even during the regular season, too? guess they don't play solid defense in the regular season? lowry's playing like trash this playoff as well, but i don't see people say anything bad about him. what happens if demar breaks out the rest of the playoffs and does well, do u suddenly want him after a few good games?
using that logic, was kobe's play during his prime fraudulent as well? he was great at drawing free throws and lead the league in free throws shot...
As good as klay...mathematically.
Thing about drawing free throws, you're relying on the refs to bail you out. A completely uncontrollable variable. There's no algorithm for "the refs are letting them play" . I don't think it's a coincidence that harden boogie and derozan are all 1st options on 3 of the most fraudulent teams in the league.
You said yourself that you'd take klay 10/10 times. So no, they aren't just as good.
Horrible comparison.
Soundin like Daryl Morey with useless analytics. Your team would end up lookin just like the current Rockets too with how much you base your opinions on players with advancedcalculus and biophysicsstatistics.
Taking the same amount of shots as someone else does not mean they make the same impact on both ends of a basketball court.
Try using live observation of basketball games more and less googling of OSTEFSCANZ ratings on a webpage to compare players and their skills.
You do know the Warriors are an analytic team right? Their entire team is built on an analytic approach. Draymond Green didn't get to play Center in the Lineup of Death on some whim.
Ahhhh yes because live observations is the only way to look at things. If your eyes tell you something is so... It must be.
It's called a weighted approach.
You take what you see, and you see if it holds true. You know if you have a hypothesis, you test it. See if it holds true.
Hence why I said it's mystifying that DeMar DeRozan was as good offensively than Klay when everything eye ball test shows you that he shouldn't be.

Klay may not get to the line as often as Demar but at least he opens up the floor, which is essential for today's game

So let's watch this thread burn for a second.
At some point though, you kinda have to get SOMEONE, anyone to take the money. He's just not worth panicking and giving away max money to prior to taking a deep breath and evaluating more well rounded players.Klay may not get to the line as often as Demar but at least he opens up the floor, which is essential for today's game

That's a well balanced opinion that some math wizards don't seem to be able to comprehend behind those massive chalk boards of formulas.

Whether it be Derozan, Horford, KD, batum, Lee.. anyone.
I completely agree with all of this.Bro I wouldn't be mad if we landed Derozan, it's not the end of the world. It's firepower. He's talented. But what some of us are saying is we'd prefer we go after the OTHER more well rounded free agents first, not panick and throw the farm at DeroZAN as if he's the only young SG on earth that will be available to us the next few years.
Go after Batum, Whiteside... Make trade offers for Butler... Etc etc... See if you can make more defensive minded acquisitions first, then go ahead and target Demar.
He just shouldn't be top priority, like Mamba said there is and will be more players who can do what he does in the near future. He's good, but he's not irreplaceable good, not for 25 million a year...
But hey, he's younger than Melo and has a ceiling and room for growth, so sure... If that max offer Melo got ends up going to Demar instead, I won't be mad.
I'd rather have a 26 year old Demar than a 33 year old Melo for 4-5 years.
Clarkson and the 3rd pick is the offer.Trade away MULTIPLE assets for Jimmy Butler rather than signing Demar and keeping those players?
That's a plan LTB? You would support that move?

If we end up 3rd, I'm desperately trying to package that for an established (preferably defensive) player.
