LOCK IT UP - College Football - 2009 Season/2010 Off-Season

How long before Fortson ends up at Ole Miss

My money is on Terrelle Pryor to win the Heisman.

Btw, what happened to Aldarius Johnson? Nobody mentions dude anymore

You probably dismissed the idea of Michigan playing a huge nonconference game against Alabama in two years in Jerryworld as crackpot rumor-mongering of the sort the internet specializes in. Michigan's on the road against ND, leaving a maximum of six home games, it's transparently silly to play a college football game thousands of miles from either college, and Michigan hasn't played a neutral-site OOC game basically ever. It seemed instantly implausible.

But apparently it is happening. The contract is being signed Monday. Which is tomorrow.

The following details are unconfirmed but of interest since they come from an established source:
 • Game is happening because a desperate Jerry Jones "overpaid."
 • Michigan will be the nominal home team (important mostly for TV rights) and receive more money.
 • There's no additional game scheduled and there may not be.
 • Jones might be well-positioned to provide some advice on HD scoreboards.
This comes with a set of crazy conflicting emotions. Hurray awesome nonconference game, boo that it's in fricking Dallas in a corporate death star of an NFL stadium and not a home-and-home in Ann Arbor and Tuscaloosa. I guess that's what it takes for a lot of actual nonconference games to get done these days, but awesomeness of trip to Dallas to see M play 'Bama <<<<<< awesomeness of M-Bama home-and-home. On the other hand, awesomeness of M-Bama Dallas >>>>>>> awesomeness of M-BGSU anywhere.

He was injured a lot of last year. Even still when healthy he's like the 4th best WR on the team.

For whoever asked about Streeter... A guy who went saw practice yesterday wrote this:

Streeter was disappointing. He started off the day catching a beautiful fade route in the corner end zone, drawing some aaahhs from the crowd, and then it just went downhill for him. He dropped 2 passes in 1 on 1s, one of which was intercepted by DVD, and then dropped one in a scrimmage when he was about to get licked. All 3 drops he had a defender on top of him and would have taken a hit. I hate drawing this conclusion from one practice, but it seems to me he might be scared of contact. I can't imagine that the kid doesn't have good hands. But he needs to realize college is not like high school where he was running free. If he can't make catches in traffic, then he won't see playing time here. Ever. He is still rail thin (I saw him in the gym a couple months ago), and I wonder if putting on some muscle will help him feel stronger and tougher and enable him to make those catches. Lastly, I can't see him getting meaningful PT this year. With 47, 3, 85, 4, 83, and D. Johnson, there isn't room for him right now.

Oh and...

Ryan Williams > Mark Ingram but Trent Richardson > Darren Evans.

AH, If Collier is in shape, he'll probably be a special teams beast. He helps slot IMO ESP with the NCAA imposed scholarship limit and how versatile he is

im happy we are gonna schedule bama in two years giving us a legit shot with denard and tate being seniors...but a home and home would have been unreal

Thanks Gunna

I wish Urb would play some other elite power outside the state for a change. I don't see why they couldn't do at least one Chick-Fil-A kickoff game at the beginning of the season...dah well, his philosophy has produced 2 national titles and the most money in the school's athletic program history so really can't blame him.

It's going to begin to hurt them if they continue with this philosophy.

Most SEC teams have been hearing the calls, and most if not all of the major teams in the SEC are now scheduling at least one respectable OOC game that is out of state.  Alabama (Penn State), Arkansas (Texas A&M), Auburn (Clemson), Georgia (Colorado), LSU (UNC, WVU), Ole Miss (Fresno State), Tennessee (Oregon).

Florida with 8 home games, 4 road games.  3 games outside of the state of Florida (UT, Bama, Vandy)

I like LSU because they have that mindset of "We'll play anybody, anywhere"
Ivan Maisel on ESPN Radio
Has reported that Marvin Austin is in the clear regarding the current NCAA investigation into his possible improper contact with agents.

He also claims that Marcell Dareus from Alabama is only going to get a "slap on the wrist" from his involvement.

Looks like the smoke is begining to clear. These boys might just get to play football this year afterall.

Edited to add quote from Ivan:

"I surely believe we’ll hear about the players who have been called out by the NCAA. We’ll hear it before the season begins.

I expect good news for North Carolina on Marvin Austin – the defensive lineman… the really good defensive lineman.

I expect Marcel Dareus at Alabama will get a wrist slap. I don’t know about Wesley Saunders at South Carolina. And the rest of them, we’re just going to wait and see how deeply the NCAA can dig into this, and see who else they come up with."

You can hear him say it here

What about Little?

GL has allegedly been "clear" from anything and Marvin was the only one in question.

Maisal recently tweeted- @Ivan_Maisel: Hold on, Heels. Re Austin, I tried to say on ESPN Radio I don't expect good news for UNC before season. Maybe I swallowed the word "don't."

But a poster on IC who has been pretty money in the past said that he has heard we are clear, just waiting on when the NCAA will make its final ruling.

--------

Also, our freshman RB Gio Bernard tore his ACL in practice today.

Hopefully he has a speedy recovery. All reports were that he had a decent off season and had a shot being a 3rd down back this year.

If yall get a chance to watch Tulsa this season, do it just to see Damaris Johnson

My guy is da BIDNESS!
