It is tone deaf. The thing is that countries outside of the US don't understand the history and or language of cultures here in the US. To them it's just a direction delivered whereas here in the states that language paired with a young child of color doesn't have the same tone or reception. It's much more sensitive.

You're right. Calling black people monkeys is nothing new over there or here in the states.
But they pull the image and the product because they realize HOW it was received.
Again, the creative director, producer, designer, etc who approved let it roll out globally as a direction. That direction is now pulled because of HOW it was received.

I'm not arguing with you a55a5in11 or trying to prove a point.
It's just that this rolled out without ANY sensitivity whatsoever. It was allowed. Someone over there can have a position and be completely ignorant or completely complicit in approval.
I have no doubt that there are people outside of the states that are well aware of historical undertones and symbols of racism and approve. I have no doubt.
For this particular piece it just seems/feels/reads like there was a lack of understanding across the board.
