I believe the argument is how do you get invested in someone whose story hasn't been explained.

MLW is on Vice in 30 min. Jacob Fatso vs Zima. Gonna watch.

But people are already invested. That's the problem w/ wrestlers oversharing w/ now you think they owe you statements and explanations. They owe you nothing.

Orange Cassidy explaining why he does pretty anything he does is antithesis of everything he knows about him. He doesn't "expose the business" and the ppl that complain about wrestlers exposing the business are the main ones hating him for it. The irony. You really want him to expose his gimmick & **** up his bag b/c you want to know why his hands is in his pockets?

Finished the Warrior DSOTR. Pretty good, but definitely thought IT was odd that they didn't mention his WCW run. The WCW excerpt from his Wiki page is pretty hilarious

WCW signed Warrior "at great expense" in May 1998.[54] He formed a stable opposing Hollywood Hulk Hogan's New World Order (nWo):[55] the "One Warrior Nation" using the initialism oWn as a play on the name nWo.[56] Highlights of the storyline included Warrior kidnapping and "converting" The Disciple and frequent instances of "magic smoke" knocking out all of the nWo members except for Hollywood Hogan and covering Warrior's movement through a trapdoor in the ring. The trapdoor was responsible for nearly paralyzing Davey Boy Smith, when he awkwardly fell on it during a match at Fall Brawl 98.[57] Warrior's debut promo also unexpectedly lasted over 27 minutes, which was more than 20 minutes over its allotted time and forced Eric Bischoff to do a massive rewrite of Nitro on the spot, including re-adding a commercial break that was supposed to take place during the promo.[58]

Warrior only participated in three matches in WCW. The first was the WarGames match at Fall Brawl, where he competed as a member of Team WCW, competing against 8 other wrestlers for a shot at Goldberg's WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Halloween Havoc. Diamond Dallas Page won the match by pinning Stevie Ray. On the October 12 edition of Monday Nitro, he teamed with Sting to defeat Hogan and Bret Hart by disqualification. The third was his loss to Hogan at Halloween Havoc, in what is considered by many to be one of the worst wrestling matches ever staged.[59] During the bout, an attempt to "blind" Warrior with a fireball backfired when Hogan faced complications igniting a piece of flash paper. The match came to an end when Horace Hogan hit Warrior in the back with a chair, allowing Hogan to score the pinfall.[60]

WCW claimed that attempts were made to save the storyline though Warrior has claimed in interviews and convention appearances that the only reason he was brought back was so Hogan could get a win over Warrior in return for Hogan's WrestleMania job. Warrior's last appearance in WCW was on the November 9, 1998 episode of Monday Nitro, when he came to the rescue of The Disciple who was being attacked by members of The nWo. Warrior retired from wrestling that year.[61]

Didn't Jimmy Havocs get "canceled" for doing some shady stuff? Now he's about to be on this MLW episode wrestling Pillman Jr. (EDIT- Show is from March 2020  )

David Boy Jr up first though.

Their ring looks tiny as hell.

If it’s just his character, then shouldn’t Cody/whoever writes the scripts be blamed for that?
Yea that is why I have been getting on AEW from Day 1 for not explaining the character. That isn't OC's responsibility.

However, this gimmick existed before he came to AEW so he is a bum either way.

Jade Cargill

Paul Wight struggling with the scale during the weigh-in

Schiavone struggling putting the the new title on Shida

The new AEW Women's title :emoji_fire:

Will look good on Britt Baker D M D

Martin vs Miro was cool. Dante could've gotten in a little more offense but I get you have to make Miro look strong.

Stu Grayson Springboard DDT on the apron was :pimp:

Scorpio sold it well

Can't wait for The Inner Circle to breakup after losing the 2nd Stadium Stampede macth on Sunday

1, I started the conversation out with saying "casual fan". Or even someone just flipping through channels and decides to stop and watch.
2, So no wrestler needs to have reasoning behind why they do what they do? Okay. If you say so.
3, I don't like the guy or really dislike him and he's not why I watch. I would like to know some sort of backstory, as with anybody in order to be invested in some sort of way. That is not too much to ask for.

He exists. And it has not been explained to the casual viewer why he starts matches with his hands in his pockets.
RVD's heavy striking style coupled with his supreme flexibility was explained by Joey Styles as being the result of RVD teaching himself Martial Arts from a young age. The "RVD Lift" was also pointed out by Styles.

When Earthquake debuted, his great Sumo background was explained to the crowd.

St. Craig Pittbull Pittman's time dominating the mat in the Military being the reason why he was so technically sound in WCW was explained by the commentating team.

In the modern era, Seth Rollins love for Crossfit being the reason why he was so nimble and agile was explained by the commentary team.

Currently in NXT, Caty Kat Zingano's Ninja Warrior background being the cause for her amazing aerial skills was told to us by the announce team.

I can name DOZENS of other examples throughout the history of TV Wrestling of a wrestler's unique style being explained to us by the announce team.

But when it comes to Orange Cassidy, "He doesn't owe us an explanation." "Only people that don't like him want an explanation." "He is already over with the fans so it doesn't matter."

Pure bull***.

Hell, AEW already expects us to watch "Being The Elite" to pick up on nuanced things NOT told to us on TV. Has it been explained there? <Draymond> NOPE! </Draymond>

OC has the most unique style in modern wrestling and we can't get a simple reason why/how he came to adopt it.

Goofiness.

Hello my brothers hope all is well. Haven’t been around too much with everything going on with my moms health and on top of that just being crazy busy so I’ve been lacking on the wrestling and keeping up with the thread so I do apologize for that.

Is anyone interested in taking over the thread or maybe starting a new one tomorrow since we have Double or Nothing? Would be a good time to start a new thread and kick off the “Summer”.

Ive been lacking on keeping up with it and i don’t want to be that guy so I can pass on the reigns to someone else so it’s properly updated and whatnot.

Wassup Mojica.

Nobody really cares about the title of the thread. It ain't that serious dude.

No need for a new thread.

Take care of your family dude.

Imagine thinking it’s some outlandish request to want to know some background behind why a fighter would keep his hands in his pockets
