This. I feel like EVERYONE should go to therapy regardless of whether or not they have major mental health or personal issues.I disagree with the, "Most people don't need therapy."
There are so many of us walking around with issues we have never dealt with that it would help it if we DID talk to somebody

It basically serves as a non-biased third party source for you to gain insight as to how to correct problems in your life. Therapists are also good to bounce ideas off of because they're not emotionally invested in your life. Much easier to reach rational conclusions when you have another person there to help you break things down logically.
And miss me with that "therapy is for the weak-minded" nonsense. It's funny because dudes who say stuff like that are generally the most "weak minded" out of anyone. Types of dudes who will ruin relationships with friends and family because the thought of admitting that they need help or need to talk to someone about it would crush their psyche. THAT'S true fragility right there.
What's your thoughts on BA(behavioral activation)? One of my mentors been pushing this wave for a hot minute.Therapist checking in.
Therapy works for some, but not others. Similarly, medication works for some, but not others.
A lot of people go to therapy even if they aren't experiencing a crisis or symptoms related to mental illness (anxiety, depression, hallucinations, etc.).
Most people cant even afford it though.
You should go because you have something that needs to be dealt with.
Going for the heck of it is ridiculous.
I think it was a poor choice of words, but he's right. EVERYONE can benefit from it imo. I come from a psychiatry family, and even the most healthy individuals can benefit from it.Most people cant even afford it though.

Ehh I don't know about that. I'd admit it probably doesn't come remotely close to a productive therapy session (never been) but it does make me indifferent to my problems which is enough for me to keep going. And smoking helps, but it will never get rid of your issues for more than a few hours.

Im going to make an assumption those free therapist are free for a reason. Im good.
Being a current student that has met many psych majors.... Im going to pass on that tooI'm a smoker... and go to therapy and it DOES come close to a therapy session, but it doesnt get to the root of your problem. It just numbs it out for a while, and the same issues come back... unless you smoke 24/7.Ehh I don't know about that. Alot those free therapy places may be garbage, I assume they are like AA for mental health. I can speak for schools though, you deal with kids in college going to school to be a therapist. Some are actually quite good, they just haven't made a career out of it yet.

See this is something I'd actually do on the regular if we had Universal Healthcare because I know mental health should be the highest priority,
but im not going into debt trying to pay for it
I cant be in debt when im dead, it's a win/win

I don't think you understand that I'm speaking idealistically, not practically. Obviously there are financial issues and the fact that it's hard enough to find a psychotherapist that's taking new patients as is.This.
