Movie looks cray: THE PURGE starring Ethan Hawke

 yo, take it easy. I only saw the trailer once. I don't recall it mention anything about population control. And what are you talking about b? Did you watch the preview? The preview conveyed nothing about that. A world with 1% unemployment. All time low crime rate... that doesn't seem to be a "dog eat dog" or "kill or be killed" mentality to me. You're bring up matters that are unrelated to the movie trailer. If anything, they portray people as even more civilized and the purge is a day for them to release all their pent up stress.

How do you think it got to 1% unemployment and an all time low crime rate dunny? They just had a sudden boom of factories?

No, people got killed off. The jobless and the criminals were killed first. But hey, I could be wrong. That's just my hypothesis.

They portrayed the purge as straight murder mainly.

Day where everybody is allowed to murder = less population = more jobs/less crime

doesn't make sense economically.

In real life, people would rather steal than kill...so the purge would be a night of robbery moreso than murder.

How can that help a nation? Redistribution of wealth? you communist bro?

i think this would be a good movie to watch in the theater unless it ends like the strangers

Concept is crazy dop...but meh at the rest of the trailer...so much potential tho. Just wish they didnt go with the guys looking for the dude. Seems cliche.

I need to be a hollywood writer dog

Socialist if anything. But I think the lower rung of society would have been the first to go.

We don't know just how long they've been doing the purge yet so it's all speculation for now.

Would you rather murder your competition for a 80k a year job opening or go steal a new TV?

If you choose the TV, who's to say your competition isn't scouting for you? Idk man...

Killign your "competition" for a job opening doesn't make sense....

If you are not within a company yet, your competition could be an undisclosed amount of people who are applying for the position. Finding out who they are and killing them all off in one night wouldn't be a likely option.

If you are already within a company, then you may be in competition with one, or a few other coworkers who may receive the promotion. You could easily kill them off...but then you've killed a coworker... and you would receive the social repercussions (nobody at work liking you/getting fired/etc) not worth it.

You are too hyped on the idea, you not really factoring in all aspects of the situations you are presenting.

If we could kill one day a year with no repercussions.... and we as in every citizen? civilian, soldier, politician? We would resort to fuedalism
Small-medium sized communities that stick together and defend themselves against outsiders.

Maan its a movie bruh of course its not realistic. Just like other movies just gotta let that go and enjoy it for what it is. Up in here talking about economically realistic feudalism and what not
mean.gif

All this bickering just from the trailer, can't wait to see this thread once the movie is in theaters

just seen this trailor for the 1st time movie looks :smokin

I kind of want to see this. The marketing is awesome with their billboards and posters all over town.

I'll check out Rotten Tomatoes to see whether it's worth going or not.

It seems that the purge is the reason that crime is so low throughout the year and unemployment is low as well. Interesting philosophical topic

Movie makes no sense to me.

The very first purge and some bill gates level rich person takes over the US. Then that person ends the purge tradition so it doesn't happen to him.

Boom. Movie debased.

Smh would be a group of white folks chasing one black dude, making it seems more propaganda for white folks to steer away from helping them
