My Gay Friends: Please stop comparing your plight to civil rights.

The Gay argument has to do with one thing and one thing only, THE BIBLE AND RELIGION.

Religious people hate gays and those who aren't religious hate gays because to them it seems right to hate them.

Gay people getting married will do what? Make more gay people? Nah, No, Man No! Heterosexuals raise more gay children than Homosexuals.

I am a little bit. Homosexuals never had to go through centuries of enslavement and discrimination that is still going on today but they're still both as unjust.
I do think that they should be allowed to marry,no group should be barred from common rights

while the right to marriage may not be comparable to the civil rights struggle, i do think it's an important topic. it's more than the marriage itself, i think it's symbolic of increased acceptance in the U.S. which will ideally lead to a decrease in violence/hatred.

They are nowhere near the same on the levels of discrimination, injustice and/or violence perpetrated against them.

Gay people aren't being lynched/kiled regularly (anywhere near as much as AAs were) because of prejudice.

Gay people aren't being held back from being educated or employed on the level that African Americans have been.

Gay people aren't forced to use separate facilities.


My other problem with this comparison is that some gay people use it because it is convenient, but they don't do the invonvenient thing and stand up for African Americans when we are discriminated against STILL. If they feel that the struggles are the same why not go protest when something happens against African Americans to show solidarity?

Even worse than that, there are gay people who are racisits and hate black people that want to use the comparison.

anyway, it doesn't matter how you feel or how black people who are against gay rights in general feel about this, as it's a much larger issue
