Lol these comments after Game 1 at Toronto

Kawhi and Siakam both literally had career highs and shot 80% from the field. Not a single other player on their team was in double digits, didn’t have a single bench player score a point til midway through the third quarter and the rest of their team outside of Kawhi and Siakam shot 32%.

Toronto is the favorite and this was Game 1 at home for them, so they did what they were supposed to do. But we’ll see what happens when Kawhi and Siakam aren’t both having the game of their lives.

And Toronto still only won by 13

Oh, and Denver’s plan to let Houston fall to 4th was 3D chess

But majority of NT was playing checkers at the time

Chess? They damn near lost to the Spurs . That was supposed to be the cake matchup they wanted and it went 7 games. What are you gonna say when they lose to Portland? :nerd:

Denver lost to Houston in 3 out of 4 regular season meetings by an average of 16 points. Avoiding a potential 2nd round matchup with them seems like it would be a pretty good idea.

21/15/10/1/3 with 0 turnovers, even with 26 shots, in a game 7, isn't a Russ style triple double anyways. Had 0 turnovers and won. A good amount of his misses came in the 4th when he was absolutely gassed.

Silly to even compare the two.

I give him credit this thread just picks and chooses who to over hype. If this dude is Dirk meets Gasol he should do this do right? I can't celebrate a 2 seed beating a 7th seed in 7 games.

What are you gonna say when they lose to the blazers?

They only won by 13 while having career best games out of their two best players. The rest of their team got locked up in bad matchups. Ben and Jimmy are bad matchups for Lowry, JJ defends shooters like Green well and Embiid and even Boban (other than dragging him out to the three point line) are bad matchups for Gasol. We just need Kawhi and Siakam to not go nuts for four games to have a chance at winning this series.

but I'm not saying its a fact on why they did what they did.

This. I get the gambling angle and I'm not saying it's unrealistic but you're also ignoring how many chances the Spurs had to take control of that game in the last few minutes and they smoked every one. I've seen plenty of teams concede in that kind of situation. Maybe LMA had bread on it, I don't know

I mean they certainly could.

Are you legitimately arguing that they would be better off playing a team they lost to 3 out of 4 times in the regular season instead of a team that they beat 3 out of 4 times though?

The blazers got swept by OKC in the regular season and look how that turned out

A fat slow 24 year old leading a team to victory against an opponent with 2 all-star caliber players and one of the best coaches of all-time is pretty impressive. Deserving of the hype.

This is my point right here. When ya'll like somebody ya'll put extras on it.

They beat LMA and Derozan. 2 dudes that have been terrible in the playoffs. I know ya'll love Jokic and "the real young core" but calm down. Good 1st rd win, did what they were supposed do, the Spurs was not some great team.
