New York Yankees Official Thread - RIP Former Manager Petey Rose

They gave Rodon 6 years at the the same average annual salary and he wasn’t a 200 IP guy.

Ehh the years are prob was finished the deal. At that rate, that’s not money that can hinder them.

The 165-170 innings concerns me. If he gave you 200 at those numbers, ok.

He was 34th in IP. Braves were going 6 man rotation for a few months, and missed 2 starts in July

2023 injured
2022 he was 18th in IP
2021 35th in IP. Missed 3-4 starts in April

Since 2021, he's thrown the 31st most innings at 603.

I get your point..... But we're talking 80 innings over 4 seasons to match Cole. Who had 10 more starts in that time.

Gotta risk it to get the biscuit. And if another team was offering 25 over 6/7, my guess is there was. You have to get good players in.

To quote Andrew Friedman: "If you're always rational about every free agent, you will finish third on every free agent."

If they front load it, or move some things around, even less of a deal.

Yea like I said, I don't hate it. Just 8 years when he's 30 and has had some forearm/elbow issues is scary for the back end. But it's not my money so f it.

I'm hearing on wfan that theres real talk with the Yanks going after Kyle Tucker and not for nothing, i like it. Don't think the Stro's would trade one of their best with us but he'd be perfect at the stadium, play LF ... i like it ....

Just worried what it will cost for Tucker. And preferably if it’s Gil. I’d like 1 more starter in tow. I assume they won’t go Burnes even though it’d catapult them to best staff. A hedge of Flaherty would be a good move.

I do like trying to peel Teoscar from the Dodgers. Regardless, team to beat will be Dodgers for a bit. That hurts them.

I’d check in on Pete. See what his market is. There’s a world, I’d go a few years on a pretty large AAV. At the very least, you have a masher. And if you lose Giancarlo at any point, that’s your insurance. Yankees need 3-4 bats right now to protect against injuries. Pete would drop that concern pretty significantly. While he’s not the greatest hitter. He’s a masher and you know he will produce something for you.
I wouldn’t go 4-5 years. But 3 years make him Top 3-4 AAV and Top 5 Contract value for 1B
3 years / $84mil. Front load the **** out of it or give him an opt out and buy out after year 2.

Tucker ain't a bad rebound. Like being dumped by hottest chick out there and gettin with a baddie who can cook . Yeah i think either Gil or even Dominguez might be in a deal like that. Tucker would go left field or center and Judge in RF. Maybe even resign Verdugo . Hear me out

He wasn't terrible, above avg defense, can get to pretty much anything in a huge LF and with a yr under his belt he could be more comfortable than bringing in a new guy. Gotta do some work but i do like Tucker :smokin

I'd definitely like Tucker as a replacement but if we trade for him we need to be able to extend him or we're in the same situation next season. Would hate if that means we have to lose Gil. Would definitely need another starter. You could hedge on Flaherty or maybe even Walker Buehler.

wouldn't mind tucker but wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just sign bregman.... different positions obviously but both are good hitters... just don't know what a trade would look like...

Wrong side of 30, bat hasn’t been the same (it’s still really good). Think they fill in the IF with internal candidates.

Tucker younger, lefty bat, A+ defense, who also will steal 30 and is on a cheaper deal for this year. Must, must extend before you trade for him.

Trading for Tucker ONLY with an extension; may cost them combination of Dominguez/Jones/Gil; but not all 3

Dominguez and Jones have not been brought up - they want a Soto package, getting Gil/Rice and a throw in or two is a really solid return for them.

I'm surprised they're even doing business with us. Last yr the Sox now Houston, these are different times for real man ...

Tucker for sure over Bregman. Tucker is the much better player and younger.

Yeah if no Martian in the deal. I’m fine with it.

Bellinger to first would be the next trade to make.

I’m no on Bellinger although I’d love the lefty bat - give me Christian at 1B on a max 3 year deal - estimates are he’s cheaper and don’t need to give assets up that can be packaged on another deal.

Better glove (32 runs saved last 3 years) and a little better bat

I agree tucker is the better player as long as the astros don't want the kitchen sink back in a trade

I really don't want to give up Gil unless you have another starter lined up. Stroman has to be moved at some point.

Reports are they haven’t - Gil/Rice is where it seems to be + fill ins. Makes sense for an expiring
Have to try to get it done with that ...sure Gil was ROY, but if we can get Tucker and have him sing an extension, you have to do it
