Next Gen Xbox Reveal Confirmed for May 21

That 500 GB HDD and mandatory downloading is not going to work well. Why couldn't they go with a TB? Especially if the hard drive is not removable. Doesn't sound like a great idea.

I don't want to have to delete games to make space for others.
like i stated to some it may seem like a bad idea....but i think to keep the system cost down... and also taking into account the average consumer....Most like i said arent gonna keep more then 10-15 games at a time. so it seems as if they are pandering to the majority.... and pushing the entertainment aspect.... it will be more ppl that save movies/tv shows (which takes a considerate less amount) and music etc...and a few games. then there would be guys who save 20 and 30 games always, not including new games they pick up along the way and may possibly want to add to the massive amount of games they save.

xbox was fun and all but i'm not even gonna get this one lol. Normally I would of been excited for this but honestly it's not a must have and i'm definitely past the point in my life where I need to be sitting around playing games all the time

Well this is perfect for you then. Now you can watch TV on your Xbox instead of your cable box

At least you are saving $500. Maybe you can buy a couple more pairs of Anthracite VIII's! :eek

They clearly state there are 3 usb 3.0 slots for external drive, you dont have to ever delete anything if you dont want to

Part of me wonders if there is enough uproar and consumer backlash whether Microsoft can (or would even consider) changing some of the rumored policies we are hearing (assuming they are true) like fee for used games, etc.
Smh I don't want an xbox One if they are doing this, but I have already invested a lot of money into that ecosystem. Might just rock with the 360 until it is no longer supported/stops working.

I have also

When I saw 500 I went

exactly very few ppl keep games outside of sports...once they have beaten them...its usually beat the game, keep for a second to play against friends/family..and trade in/sale....especially if a newer version comes out. Same with sports titles keep it then make a season or so, maybe a little online competition for awhile, stores have a special trade in for extra money/dlc towards the next yrs game and folks trade it in.

I think the amount of ppl who keep stuff like the first c.o.d. final fanasties from years past, 4 y/o need for speeds is far and few. I think if making the storage size reduces cost, and makes the system more efficient, most agree that is a trade off they are willing to take as oppose to some massive 1tb-2tb hard drive, in which a vast majority of users might not even use half of it, and making the system cost more and process info etc..slower.

but if they are touting it as an all around entertainment system all those apps and or movies or games and updates are gonna take up a lot of space

apps at most take up mbs....tv shows the same...and hell movies at most take like a gig or 2. And as far as updates new replaces the old. I mean ppl have dvrs with faaaaaaaaaaaaaar less space. well direct the highest i think is at 240...although most are around 120-160. i have a direct one and have plenty of apps. ncis seasons, bates motel season, bill maher, vice, a good 15-20 movies and god knows what else and im barely at 28%

but if you are using apps and such then you must have internet, so they're counting on you using the cloud if you don't have space or an additional hd

Does anybody else feel that the 360 and ps3 never really push the full potential in both respective hardwares
All this stuff just sounds like updates or dlcs that could be applied to current gaming systems

not really.
It's time for more consoles so these companies can get paid, but realistically no.
They could honestly stretch out this generation for 2-3 years.
Are these companies going to discountinue these consoles that have things we are currently using such as hbo go, netflix, amazon video etc?
That's just my opinion.

I disagree, you can tell devs have hit the limit with the current gen.

This also shows how the upgrades are substantial not like DLC at all.

As for the services such as netflix, those won't be taken down anytime soon at all. PS3 and the 360 will still be supported for along time to come. PS2 just got discontinued and that came out in 2000.
Consoles have helped those services big time and will continue to do so.

but they did say that the games would take considerably less space.... larger games obvious in the 10 gig range...average 5 or so... So with saves lets say 7 or 8 gigs... divide that by 500. Like i said average person is gonna kept maybe 10 games or so in rotation...sell the liscence, erase the game saves...etc.

I enjoyed alot of games on both ps and xbox...but i cant think of any off the top, id want to keep and continously play for years and years...And i dont see that for the average consumer. Also i really dont see ppl keeping 20+ games at all times in rotation either. I could see possibly sports titles for seasons and/or fighting games etc... but rpgs fps etc... I cant think of even 5 games id keep on deck at all times for years and years.

I don't think games will be 7 gigs average. That's what they are now and some exclusives are in the 40GB range. I expect the games to be even bigger

I'm sure Microsoft will be pushing for cloud services as well. Things like Netflix and other streaming apps won't take up space besides the app themselves.

If you're gonna be saving high definition/blu ray movies onto your HD, they're gonna be what .. > 1.5 GB each?

So if you're saving game data onto a cloud service and for some reason dont have an internet connection for a period of time...
