i'm glad the drafts were brought up. i've always wondered this, but why are teams so hesitant to trade first rounders. the draft has been and always will be hit and miss. a couple of years ago i wanted the texans to trade a 1st round pick for julius peppers to go alongside mario williams in a 4-3. my reasoning was that, what are the odds that a 1st round pick is going to equal the production of julius peppers? trading a guess at potential for a proven NFL player.

i don't think that's the only reason, but in situations i see how that's applicable.

Do Work, when did you want the Texans to trade for Peppers? From the Bears? That wasn't happening, the Bears have been very happy with the return on their investment with regards to Peppers. They also like how he frees up Wooten & vice versa...Also if your talking about recently, the Texans have been snug with the cap resulting in the team having to cut Winston & trading DeMarco Ryans (especially since he didn't fit their scheme anymore). Texan fans please correct me if I'm wrong. As mentioned, teams aren' going to trade first round picks for high priced vets. They'd rather pay a rookie less money in an effort to try & get the same results.

BTW, the ratbirds look like they might be playing Suggs. Eh, he looked a little too big in the practice footage I saw of him this week. I hope they're not rushing him back...

I would be mildly shocked if Saban leaves Bama, but coaches have huge egos. I think it bothers him to some degree that he couldn't get it done with the Fins. Saban does have strong ties to Ohio. Played college ball at Kent state, coached under the Hoody with the Browns, & got his first HC gig at Toledo St...

Plus, I think the other coaches in the SEC might contribute to his financial package with the Browns too...

this. i meant wayyy back when he was on his last year or two with the panthers. it became evident that peppers wasn't staying in carolina. 1st or 2nd round pick for 2 years of a solid NFL player or draft amobi okoye. -___-

Nick Saban isn't underpaid now...and he's a God in 'Bama with a helluva recruiting program that keeps his squad perennially relevant. I understand the allure of a NFL head coaching job, but if anybody was justified in staying at the college level, it's Saban.....unless, he hears those sanctions foot steps getting louder and louder....word to Pete.
