Nike KD 12

Looks like the AP 11s from warmup to the buzzer tonight.

Weird.

Is the marketing push going to begin in the playoffs? If so why debut and release the 12s beforehand?

Hard to imagine a colorway on these without a translucent sole. I'm still sticking to "whichever colorway goes on deepest discount" but those 90s joints do look good.

If these go on nikeid then that's where the solid outsole will appear. On the Kobe X/Elite, all the public release pairs had translucent outsole while you can only get solid through nikeid.

I'd wait unless you love the PG3s. I think the PG3s are aight but nothing special so it would be an easier decision for me.

PG3 ID's aren't going anywhere. I would wait for some reviews on the 12s and then make a decision. Release is less than a week away.
Looks like a few materials are low and may sell out.

I just hit up Nike chat about my PG3 ID delivery timeline, bc it was due to ship Thursday and still in progress - chat response:
"Yeah, we're actually seeing here that the material we have for PG 3 is low, and will be sold out couple of orders placed."

I have worn mine the 3 of the last 4 days. They are what I just go to put on out of comfort and just how the shoe feels on foot currently. I would go as far as to say these may be my favorite kd they have made besides moving the 9 and 10 down from 1 and 2 comfort wise

Any insights into on court functionality?

KD really does stick to one shoe once he feels comfortable in them. I think it's in an interview that he did that when he breaks a shoe in and it feels good, he wears it, A LOT. I think last year he wore the pink/multi color 10's til the end of the finals. I think that's what's happening with the 11s.

Crazy this was norm for all basketball players for awhile then they switched to trying to wear a new pair every game. To me what KD does makes sense, I never understood why NBA players don’t wear shoes long enough to break in.

No wonder they wear 9 pairs of socks and go up two sizes...they don't break in their shoes and they don't want to feel those hotspots

Because if they wear the same color way all the time, then there isn’t as much exposure from the media.

I have no evidence to back it up, but Jordan always made a point about wearing a new pair every game...maybe some of these guys wanted to be like Mike.

Now it's all about social media...gotta get those likes and shares. Like old farts pulling on the slot machine levers.

Yeap. In the 90s, especially with Jordans, you saw maybe 4-5 colorways of the same shoe in a year??? Pennys and Barkleys maybe 2-3 colorways???I remember playing in a shoe till you couldn't wear them anymore. I hooped in XIV's sophomore and junior year for my high school team for practice and games. Things fit like a glove. Now is a different era. More kicks the merrier. Less emphasis on quality. I don't buy multiple pairs of kicks to hoop in per year just because I don't hoop like that anymore and I actually want to break in and get some use out of shoes that I buy. If I spend $150+ on a pair of hoop kicks, they're getting run.
