I need to find me an official Nintendo caryying case. The one I got at GameStop was too big, switch moves around in it. I read up on the bestbuy ones (Insignia) same difference. Hope I can find official Nintendo one tomorrow.

The official Nintendo case has perfect fitment but its soft so it doesn't offer drop protection.

Yeah I said I was gonna start it today and I still haven't :lol. Was on my way to do an objective and saw a couple of Shrines so I did those. Then saw a Tower and unlocked that. Then noticed that the entire left side of my map was yet to be unlocked so I'm working towards that now :lol. It's amazing to me that there's 100+ Shrines. I've been playing for so long and I've probably only done about 25-30 of them. I'm just hoping that the main quest is just as dense as the rest of the game.

Yea I started East and did some of the story, but I did some back tracking to where I started and started to do a whole bunch of shrines and unlocking towers. A few had me :{

Some of these shrines are hard as hell. Now I'm in the middle of Gerudo Valley trying to figure out how to fight the main boss there. All together, I probably have completed 25 shrines.

For those playing, how are you all prioritizing hearts vs. stamina?
I'm 50/50. Went in increments of two. So two hearts, then two staminas, etc. Four upgrades apiece so far. Going forward I think I'll prioritize stamina. With the amount of materials/food that you find it's so easy to whip up a bunch of meals to replenish your health. The only thing you have to worry about is running into a monster that can kill you in one hit. And even then, I always have a few Fairies on me to revive me instantly.

A great, simple meal that I found: 1 Rock Salt and 1 Truffle. Replenishes full health and gives you an extra heart for a limited time.

I'm not even bringing my Switch to work. Playing it for an hour during lunch would be such a tease :lol. Gonna be a lot of late nights/groggy mornings this week though.

i'll be shocked if BOTW doesn't win game of the year. honestly.

it's gotta be the best game ever made (if you're a fan of zelda, if you dislike or are indifferent to the zelda franchise you might think i'm over exaggerating).

it's ridiculous how much time i spent playing this weekend. and every time i stop and go out i'm out there wanting to come back and play. i can't remember the last time i felt like that about a game.

more so than not as i'm older now, if i got a new game it would almost feel like a chore to play it. or like "i guess i'll play x i got nothing better to do...

where as with BOTW i'm over here making plans around it lol.

in terms of how big it is. it's really insane. i started searching for memories. and when you do that you truly realize how big this game is. you sit there thinking "how in the hell am i ever gonna get to the point in this game where THIS place is the main focus" like the attention to detail on stuff that might not even be relevant is nuts
This makes me so anxious, haven't felt like this for anything in a minute

After reading all the comments and a few articles it seems like the general consensus is that Zelda is amazing and the switch is decent with potential...

My only complaint. Can't turn the system on remotely. I just woke up and I wanna jump back into zelda but I have to get up and press poweron the concole.:{

Yeah, I was about to say I've been doing that everyday :lol

Anybody still looking for a Switch? Got an extra one from Amazon.

I've got like around 12 hours in on Zelda and feel like it's definitly the goat. Has more of an rpg feel to me with gear and loot and grinding the shrines for extra stats. Game is extremely addicting to me I'm doing all the side quests and shrines and exploring a lot to find sub bosses and the game just keeps getting better. Favorite thing for me is they increaesed the difficulty a lot so you have to engage every fight with a strategy and equip yourself for the type of enemy. Do yourself a a favor and cop the strategy guide the stress will be real on some of these puzzles and you will miss a lot of side quests and shrines.

Are some of you guys experiencing some lag/disconnection with the joycons on TV mode? Could be the position and distance that I'm sitting but it shouldn't be that bad. Need to calibrate maybe?

Try docking the Switch, connecting the Joy Cons to the docked Switch, and then doing a hard system reboot. And make sure to do this after you've done the latest system update. This is supposed to update the firmware in the Joy Cons to the latest version, which has been said to help with some of the desyncing issues. It's also good to have a clear line of site to the system, and stay within 10 feet if the issue keeps happening.

To do a hard reboot, you need to hold down the power button on the actual Switch for at least 12 seconds while the Switch is on. After a few seconds this will turn off the Switch. Keep holding the power button down and after more than 12 seconds pass, release the power button, then press it again once for about a second like you normally would to turn it on. This reboots the system.

The one that came with the ME/SE BOTW sets looks AMAZING in person. It looks just like the in-game Sheikah Slate. It's not a hard case per se but it fits the Switch well and protection seems pretty good despite it not being a hard case.

I didn't know there was another way. Should I be occasionally pressing the power button on console? 8o

I've been keeping my WiiU and PS4 on sleep/standy for years now. There's been 3-6 month stretches I don't even use the systems either and have never had any issues.

I know everyone's time with this thing is comprised of playing BOTW but has anyone downloaded and played any of the indie games on the e shop?

Wondering if any of these games are actually good..8o

I downloaded I Am Setsuna and Fast RMX, both of which look great. I am also juiced for Blaster Master 0 coming this Friday. But thanks to BOTW, I haven't scratched the surface of anything else. LOL.

Maybe I'll get the strategy guide way later, but I'd rather miss something and come back than have anything handed to me :lol if I get stuck I'll either power through it or come back later. Kinda like the Witness.

That's kinda my approach too. I'm tempted to pick up a strategy guide but I want to think my way through this game.

If you sleep it you can hit the home button

You can go one further. If you go to the settings menu on the home screen, go to TV settings, and then turn on the Match TV Power State option, when you press the home button on the controller, it not only turns the console on but it also turns the TV on, and if the source setting is set to something other than the Switch, it will switch it to that source setting, so in theory, all you have to do is turn the controller on and you get right into gaming :hat :hat :hat

Good to know.

My tv already switches my sound input based on tv source, but I can turn on my tv with the Switch too?

I understand that everyone has different opinions and views on games, but there's some people that aren't even putting BoTW in their top 5 Zelda games of all time. That's kind of wild to me. I get that some games mean more to others based on nostalgia and your own experiences, but BoTW is definitely in my top 2 and will probably be my favorite of all time once I actually finish the game.

The main gripe I'm reading are how weapons break over time. Perhaps a gauge showing how long the weapon has left would help out, but I like this mechanic as it forces you to use other weapons you wouldn't normally use. I would have picked up one of the swords and never touched any of the spears or other weapons if they didn't break.

In regards to a strategy guide, I went ahead and picked up the collector's edition. I did get stumped on a couple puzzles and the completionist in me wouldn't allow me to leave and come back later. For the most part though, I'm exploring and solving puzzles on my own as much as I possibly can.

Haters always gonna hate. For one, unfortunately there's a large population of Nintendo hating trolls out there who are automatically going to hate on Zelda simply because there's a Nintendo stamp on the corner of the box. For two, you also have your Zelda snobs, who are never going to be happy with anything they get, no matter how innovative it might be or how much it might deviate from overused, repetitive formulas. Taste is subjective, but how anyone could look objectively at Breath of the Wild and NOT say it's among the greatest games ever made, much less the top Zelda games ever made, is just silly.

Agree 100%. A gauge would've been perfect. But I don't have a problem with the weapons wearing down dynamic. It (and the food/cooking process) adds an element of realism and strategy to the gameplay and makes it deeper in the grand scheme.

I preordered the deluxe special edition Piggyback guide. Mostly because of the retrospective on Zelda history it's going to include. Sucks that it won't come until April. But the way I figure, I can always do a completionist run later. I'm having too much fun exploring the unknown. It's a sense of wonder I haven't felt since I popped The Legend of Zelda into my NES for the very first time on Christmas Day 1987.
