NT, convince me "cutting the cord" is a good idea

Got the Chromebox with Kodi up and running. Took me almost a full day to set up :{ :lol

So far so good :hat

Moving into a new place and I am not even considering getting cable. I can't remember the last time I watched something on it. Internet and smart TV is all I need.
make sure you get a smart tv that can play .m3u / .m3u8 files.  then u can load iptv list for all world channels

Fire TV and TV stick on sale for Amazon's Black Friday. Just copped the standard fire stick for $24.99.

Any Kodi users on general?

Can Kodi be side-loaded on the Fire Stick or is it only available to be side-loaded on the Fire TV?

Best kodi addons for live TV and sports? I have sportsdevil installed, but dextertv link doesn't work for me. Any other add one for watching live television?

Alright fam,

I have recently moved into a new apartment and have had Comcast cable for about a month. Not sure it's worth the extra ~$30-$40 a month.

My girl and I mainly watch Network TV, ESPN, FX, AMC, HGTV... I would love to cut the cable. I've only read a few pages back and haven't read it all yet.

I would like to watch live tv and live sports. Should I go with the Chromebox? Any insight is much appreciated!!!

if you just want the legit stuff, just get a roku stick $29.99 and add slingtv acct on there for $20 a month. That'll get u all ur channels you mentioned above.  If you want to go darkside...then PM me

Thanks for the info. Damn. I'm paying $100 a month including taxes for 150mbps down and 140+ channels. If I cut the cable, I think I save $20 a month. I might as well stick with the cable than pay Sling TV that $20 that I saved.

edit: forgot to mention that I have my mom's online login for Verizon fios so I can stream stuff off of her account if I do decide to cut Comcast TV :lol

I pay $45 a month with Century Link for 30mbps down, but I get closer to 12-15 :(

Sorry if this question has been asked in here before, but do any of you run Kodi on a Nexus Player? My Chromecast doesn't support live tv and I was wondering if the Nexus Player did.

Btw, i4atv is the best add on I've seen on Kodi so far. Quality is super crisp

Running kodi on my nexus player as we speak. You don't even need to side load it. It's in the google play store.

Definitely grabbing one very soon. Is installing repos and addons easy on the Nexus Player?

You might want to try giving them a call and letting them know, it might be the modem or a cap on the line limiting you they can take off. I know Xfinity/Comcast does.

I'll be calling them on Monday. The speeds are serviceable right now but it's definitely not what I'm paying for

I've been using the firestick for a couple of days. It was like an hour or two learning curve just trying to figure out how to navigate and save "channels" or repos or whatever it's all called. Not too bad though, the sports streams don't look amazing. Probably need to go darkside to really take advantage of the quality streams that I know are out there.
I will say though, seems like a lot of lag and load time for channels to come on. Not sure if its a firestick issue or more so a kodi issue.

I finally cut the cord last night.

I was paying $152.70 each month for Cable TV/Home Phone/Internet. I dropped Cable and Home Phone and reduced my Internet bandwidth from 50 Mbps to 5. Now my monthly bill is $38 for internet service + $7 modem rental + $20 for Sling TV. I have an old modem of my own- I'm gonna hook it up to see if it works alright, which would eliminate that rental fee.

I also bought an antenna off Amazon ($25/35 mi range)... I was surprised at how good those local over-the-air channels look now. I was watching an NFL game and it looks as good as cable.

Sling is for the national broadcasts of live sports on ESPN and TNT that I won't get with the antenna. I got a Roku Stick for free through a promo from Sling. And I have a couple of different devices that I can stream Amazon Instant Video from. I do Amazon Prime, anyway, so I don't see that as an additional cost, really.

What do you mean by channels? Live TV channels? Or are you talking about addons?

lokid300s lokid300s Can you recommend me a paid stream for sports. I tried sportsaccess their streams are good, but I'm having trouble with my account and the owner won't even acknowledge the issue.

Which addons is best for nba games?
Sports devil has been holding me down
That held me back for a long time. But I figured out that I can see almost 1/3 of my NBA team's games without cable, since Sling TV ($20/mo) has ESPN & TNT and my antenna picks up ABC over the air. I'm cool with not seeing every single game; the most interesting matchups are the ones picked up by ESPN/TNT/ABC, anyway.
