NT Mechanics: I got a car problem

but yea i would just get rid of it and find a new used replacement.

also changing the ****** fluid might either do more harm than good. (trans flush) because it might be so gunked up in there that by flushing it out all that was held on together by the gunk will start to break down and make things worse. same with high mileage engines that weren't kept in good conditoin and is being held on by carbon build up.

And a Geo Prizm is a rebadged Toyota Corolla

Probably have a major crack in ur oil pan
No power, stalling is associated w/ no power getting to the engine
Check the oil lines to make sure their's no air or blockage (when's ur last oil and filter change?)
And last but not least, ur plugs and cables are old or improperly installed. And if the were just installed then they may not have been gapped right.
Yea im due for an oil change all that other stuff...

Guess im gonna have to start searching for a used car

some of these responses just have me baffled...

its most likely a blown head gasket. the smoke is probably steam from burned oil. have you ran the car hard?

Yea and take care of it man. A car is like a body, u have to take care of it in order to get maximum use out of it. Whether it's a '94 Prizm or an'09 Prizm

. All that old oil builds up and is not good on ya engine, u more than likely have build-up (u seen the Castrol commercials) so instead of a$30 oil change u bout to drop $1000+ And like damnneardead said, the leaking oil will burn since it's a liquid hitting a hot surface.

This is a dumb question, but would a mechanical engineer know more about repairing cars than a regular mechanic???

if it was a blown head gasket his car would be overheating and leaking his coolant

he didn't say it wasn't...

I feel your pain man. i am literally in the same EXACT boat as you right now. my 94 prizm called it quits yesterday too. i tried to start it up to go to schooland it was starting fine fired up once and died now its stuck in front of my house. the worst part is since it wont start i have to decide on if its worth thetowing expenses just to take it to the mechanic, because most likely my repair bill is going to exceed the value of the car. it sucks too because i was goingto buy the 09 vw Rabbit in march when i got my down payment saved up but now this is gonna be a major set back because i need something to drive in the meantime.
