Not my picture. But I can honestly say I love this DIPA. Got 4 sent to me and this is my last one... I'm mildly upset.

Finally had that small side by side Hefeweizen tasting I had promised myself to try
1000

Schneider Weisse Original 89 BA
Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse 91 BA
Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen 91 BA
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier 98 BA

The BA scores line up almost perfectly from what I had tasted.

The schneider weisse had a bit of a off putting smell to the beer. The beer was also the least tasteful of any banana notes. So it may have just been out of the style range vs. the others that all compared nicely...Definitely the least favorite of mine.

Franziskaner was a bit of a surprise for me. This one had a very nice dry carbonated bite to it (think coca cola where it almost burns a touch in your mouth. I love that out of beers).

Kellerweis has a truly amazing aroma to their beer. That is followed up with a smooth drinkability *almost opposite of that dry carbonation.

Weihenstephaner, has both a nice dry carbonated taste, great smell, and perfect drinkability. I can see why it is ranked where it is at.

If I'm in the mood for something that tastes just a bit sweeter and has more of a clean smooth taste, I'd jump for some kellerweis... For the best of both worlds, It's weihenstephaner all the way... That unforunately leaves Franziskaner as the last man out as probably never being bought again. It's good. But for the same price, I can have better. But it's nice having options.

It really does live up to the hype.  The only reason I think I liked Stone Enjoy By better was because I went into it with zero expectations.

Think I'll get a six pack of Kellerweis later this week, I usually get a 6 pack of Sudwerk Hefe which is awesome because it really tastes like a german beer, yet it's from a west coast brewery, so i love that. I'm hoping the Kellerweis doesn't have a lot of hop presence, but everything SN does..:lol

Kellerweis does not have a hop bite to it at all. I stay away from hoppy beers and this is pretty much my go to beer. Bananas and cloves and bread.

Disability check from the time I was out after surgery came in the mail today.  Much more than I expected it to be.  As a result, I decided to splurge:

There's gonna be a Founders tasting at the bar by my house on the 11th, which is perfect timing because Founders is arguably my favorite brewing company and I'll be turning 26 when the clock strikes midnight that night.  Here's what's being tapped:

Porter
Rye IPA
IPA
Old Crumudgen
Devil Dancer 2012
Dirty Bastard
IMP Stout
Breakfast Stout
All Day IPA
Double Trouble IPA
KBS 2013
DOOM 2013
Backwoods Bastard 2011
Backwoods Bastard 2012

They're also supposed to have "a few rare bottles" according to their website.  Happy birthday to me.

Recent beers I've tried: Rogue Dead Guy, Magner's, Angry Orchard, and a bunch of local Michigan beers near AA.
