Dolan Vetoes Knicks' Deal With Raptors For Kyle Lowry
Dec 13, 2013 10:27 AM EST

The New York Knicks were prepared to trade Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace, plus either Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway Jr. or a 2018 first round pick to the Toronto Raptors for Kyle Lowry, but owner James Dolan has vetoed the deal.

The Raptors preferred a first round pick from the Knicks.

Dolan had previously dealt with Raptors' GM Masai Ujiri on the 2011 deal for Carmelo Anthony when he was with the Denver Nuggets.

“Dolan didn’t want to get fleeced again by Masai,” said a source. “They had a deal ready.”

The Knicks had decided to move forward with the deal on Wednesday evening, but Dolan had second thoughts on Thursday.

“There are two problems,” the source said. “Dolan didn’t like that someone from his group leaked it to the media, and the other problem is the Knicks seem to have too many (people) involved with making decisions.”

now way were we gonna do this trade even before dolan reportedly stepping in.  knicks r dumb but come on now.  don't believe everything u read guys.

The fact that this got to the point where it could be reported on by any respectable news outlet is sad.

The fact that it was apparently close to getting done is just cruel.

@WojYahooNBA: Knicks front office regrouping on Kyle Lowry with Dolan, but Nets gaining traction as a possibility to land point guard, sources tell Yahoo.

This is bad...everyone knows how much Dolan wants to be better than Brooklyn. He'd trade Shump and THJr if it meant Lowry wouldn't go to brooklyn

Dudes acting like Kyle Lowry is that good.

I want Pablo to start at the Point for the rest of his life.

Somebody seriously considered giving up all that for mother ******g Kyle Lowry? and it's grimy to include Metta in trade talks, dude was retiring when went to go get him.

Lmao @ the nets being a potential destination

Such an obvious ploy to either spice things up by the media or for Ujiri to make a BK/NY bidding war once again like he did with Melo

Dolan: I'll call you back Ujiri, I know I can set up a much more dumber trade. I'm looking at our 2020 and 2022 picks right now, talk lats baby.

I forgot Toronto's GM was the Nuggets GM from the Melo trade. He tried playing us and insulting our intelligence - again. I guess this time it didn't work, but I don't even blame him for trying.

As for Dolan, he can still suck it. He just didn't want to look like an idiot again and his advisors warned him. That's the only explanation.

Nuggets have our lottery pick this year, thanks to Ujiri playing Dolan already. :smh:

What respectable news outlet reported this?

We suck, it's NYC, they gotta keep piling on.

I think it's ****** up and a mistake to trade Ron Artest. He brings toughness and experience to this team.

I wouldn't trade Iman or Tim for Lowry.

Felton and a 3rd is more than fair for an expiring contract.

The trade that was close to being done is so damn ridiculous that it doesn't make sense. It would have been the worst trade of all time. An expiring contract of a player that is slightly better than Ray :smh:

Jordan Crawford and Avery Bradley are awful. How the hell did we lose by 41?

Only Bargnani can hold Dwight Howard to 7 points, but let Jared Sullinger body him
