Hasheem Thabeet already up for grabs?
Chad Ford-

Hasheem Thabeet, C, Grizzlies
Gay isn't the only player theGrizzlies would move for the right price. Thabeet is off to a slowstart in his rookie season in Memphis and doesn't fit into the team'scurrent plans. Still, he was the No. 2 pick in the draft, and he hasvalue in the league.

If a team is willing to give up a veteran defensive presence, I think he could be had.

Dan (NJ)

If you were Geoff Petrie, would you make a play forDalembert? They need a shotblocker so badly and they aren't a player infree agency this year!

Chris Sheridan

No.I'd make a play for Thabeet. They can afford to wait on hisdevelopment, while Memphis could use him to substantially bolster apretty weak bench that backs up a rock-solid starting five. As I warnedLakers fans at the start of the chat: Beware the Grizzlies.
For a team to already give up on the #2 pick when they knew he'd be a project is irresponsible and is a huge red flag.

I don't know about a red flag, more the fact that they could get something of value back to help their playoff push. I wouldn't say they're giving up, they just need bench players.

And where has Mike been?

I think Heisley has too much pride to trade away Thabeet. If they do that, then all signs are pointing to him that he messed up in the draft and should've taken another player. I want to keep Thabeet because I have a feeling that he will develop into something, but its also part of me thinking that he might not and its best to get rid of him now when he still has plenty of value. It would be just like trading our pick on draft night depending on what we get.

How would it not be giving up on Thabeet?

They drafted him obviouslyknowing he was a project and then when he's still a project half aseason into his first year in the league, they're ready to bail?

Ifthat's true and if they didn't realize they were drafting a guy with asteep learning curve, they badly needed to do more homework.

They're going to be a low seed if they even DO make the playoffs and a likely first round knockout. The Grizzlies giving up the #2 selection from last year's draft in order to get bench players is entirely laughable.

LMAO Aaron McKie i completely forgot he received the KVH hookup during that trade

That's why I don't see it happening. I think its just a rumor and management has invested too much on keeping him around. I think its just another way for ESPN to try and make Memphis look like fools again and fans like you would believe that they are willing to trade their no.2 pick for some bench players. It ain't happening that way.

BTW, Chris Wallace knows what he's doing. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't even have Marc Gasol right now. If it was up to him during the draft, we would have another player other than Thabeet. If it wasn't for him, we probably wouldn't even have Sam Young.

What makes it even more stupid is that Heisley already stated whats up for grabs if he makes a trade and that's picks. If any player is traded, it will be Marcus Williams, Steven Hunter or maybe even Haddadi. Don't forget that Memphis is in its 2nd year of the "3-year plan". So, if we not suppose to make the playoffs til' next year, there's no point in doing something stupid to jeopardize the team future. If things play out like it should, we can make it this year, have a good off-season building a good bench and ready to make our run to go deeper next season.

Marc Gasol? Yeah, I forgot about him. I was just thinking McKie, Kwame, Crittenton.
And what makes it so funny is that the capspace we used from Kwame's deal led us to Zach Randolph. We also got Arthur in the deal and we still have their pick this year. Peanuts! Peanuts!

we'll be fine
He did in spurts, but he was non-existent down the stretch because he cried about every call and never got back on defense. I do appreciate the things he did for the franchise, but he didn't fit this city. I still consider him the best player this team ever had, but if we end up winning a few playoff games and/or a series I'm putting Zach ahead of him. Some players just don't fit on certain teams.

lets get this straight so if the griz won a couple of playoff games say like 2 or 3...youre gonna put z-bo over pau?

Pau has shown nothing that he deserved to be an all star. after the first hamstring injury yeah, but after that? yeah, i think you laker fans already know.

Yes, in terms of the better player in Grizz history.

What else did Pau do for Memphis other than take them to the playoffs to be swept three straight times? This team has never won a single game in the playoffs. First of all, Randolph is carrying a team that everybody thought was going to be probably one of the top 5-8 worst teams in the NBA to a possible playoff berth. Not only is he doing that, but the team could even win the damn division only being 3.5 games back from Dallas (which is unlikely, but it could happen).

If you telling me that if Zach continues to put up the numbers he's putting up, Memphis makes the playoffs and win some games that he won't be considered the better player in the city of Memphis, then I don't know what to tell you.Like I said, certain players play better on certain teams. Its obvious that Pau excels playing with Kobe in the triangle. You got some fans already talking about Zach is the best player in the franchise, so at least I'm waiting to see further results. In Pau's best years here, he still didn't put up 21 and 12 (which is what Z-Bo is putting up).

Its not even worth arguing about because its common sense. Pau had the better coach, veterans and more players around him that could contribute. Zach has the youngest team in the league with no bench. If he does what I think he might do, you damn right I'm going to consider him the best player in franchise history.

If that's true and if they didn't realize they were drafting a guy with a steep learning curve, they badly needed to do more homework.

You're not getting what I'm trying to say.  They didn't expect to be in a position to make a run at a playoff seed and that's the only piece they're willing to give up to get what they need to maybe pushed toward a 5 or 6 seed.  They're not going to risk breaking up the starting 5 or the bench players they have who are good and mess up the chemistry by trading one of them.  Not necessarily bailing on him, but they are doing what they feel is necessary to move up in the standings and make some noise in the postseason.  This team is damn good IMO and they play every game and every team hard.  They're not a guarantee to be run out of the playoffs in the first round.

I doubt any trade will happen as it is now, but I can see why they'd make a trade and I wouldn't label it as bailing or laughable.

Just my two cents.

Quick thoughts:
Pau is the best player in Grizzlies' history. However, his soft play and whinning wore out his welcome in Memphis.
Z-Bo has embraced Memphis and the city has embraced him. He could legitimately run for mayor and win.

I don't think Thabeet is being shopped, but I'm sure Memphis is willing to listen to offers.
Thabeet's shown flashes of being a quality shot blocker but has also been lackadasical and invisible at times too.

Source: Celtics' Pierce may have broken left foot

Already reeling from a spate of injuries to key players, the Boston Celtics may have lost All-Star forward Paul Pierce for a significant period of time to a broken left foot, according to a league source.

The team does not know for sure if Pierce's foot is broken after X-rays taken Tuesday; more tests are scheduled. But it "looks that way," the league source said.

The Celtics are hopeful that even if the foot is broken that Pierce won't be out of the lineup for long. But they are not yet certain of that.

Pierce suffered the injury in the first half of Boston's 99-88 victory over Washington Monday night when he got tangled up with the Wizards' Caron Butler going for a loose ball. He said after the game that he thought he sprained the ankle but didn't believe the injury was serious.

The 32-year-old was averaging 18.9 points this season on 47 percent shooting, and was named to his eighth All-Star team last month.

Ouch.

Pierce may have broke his foot huh. I feel bad for the celtics and their rash of injuries. I hope this isn't true, but if so, I hopePierce heals up for the stretch run cause I want no excuses if the Cavs play them come playoff time. There probably will still be excuses, "his foot was just broke", "he wasn't healthy", "the news said his foot sore", "he's favoring his other foot and he can't cut off the one that's broke", he's playing on one foot" Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah. Plleeeeeeeeeease heal up P squared for the sake of NT

Still salty about that game I see?

It's annoying because people will say it's because we are old, but with the way Caron fell on him, any player in the league would've broken a bone. The entire weight of Butler's body on pierce's ankle.

He is lucky it's broken and not a high ankle sprain...That being said, these dudes are almost finished.

The C's are gonna fall off as hard as any franchise in the L in the next couple of seasons not named CLE if Bron bounces.

And I'm gonna die if/when J-Smoove is selected to replace him in the ASG and David Lee is still not an All Star.

Mr. 15/8.

Five games into his return from injury, Nicolas Batum has been sensational. Dwight Jaynes, who does not often gush, writes: "Batum has the most potential of ANY of the young Trail Blazers. The kid is downright Pippen-esqe -- highly skilled and magnetic to watch at both ends of the floor. You can’t take your eyes off him. In the last three games he has defended Aaron Brooks, Dirk Nowitzki and Stephen Jackson. And done it well. On offense he’s on fire, making outside shots and finishing around the basket as well as a Trail Blazer has done in years."

Mike was sayin these trades are continuous rumors, but deals never happen.  For the last 3 years there have been a billion blockbuster reported deadline deals, and none of them got done.

And BHZ, I'ma need that explanation please..........
