What's the difference between the president and the GM? I thought they were kinda interchangeable

A GM would be someone like Walsh, the President would be someone like Obama..J/k .. not too sure either

The president just okays the deals in the end and manages the money like cap and all that.
The GM makes the calls to set up trades, meets with FAs to sign them, negotiating contracts.
Donnie was basically doing both, so was Isiah . The GM spot has been vacant for a while for the Knicks. Any news of anything close to GM was H20's promotion and all of the scouts and consultants that we've hired that are former GMs.
Glen Grunwald is our interim president of operations after June until we hire someone though.
Think we should all be looking on the bright side; the Mike D'Antoni era is going to be over. No way a new GM/Pres doesn't want to bring in his own guy as coach for the team.

Maybe I'm delusional but I think we can make a serious run at Phil Jackson in 2012 depending on hows the roster pans out. Thats the only reason I'd be ok with another year of pringles. If Phil is really done, and there is no way to really know unfortunately, can pringles ASAP.

I don't think he's coming here and soon we'll semi forget about the threat of him once all available management and coaching positions are filled long term.
Isiah really isn't a terrible coach though

Not to make it seem not as bad if he does come here to coach. I already said he should come out and says he has no interest coaching here again since I do expect him to come back to the NBA as a coach sooner than later.

Stop with this revisionist history. The only reason Isiah isn't working for the organization now is cuz of his ties to a NCAA college team. Had he quit he would have already been back in some capacity. It's not like Stern was against an Isiah rehire altogether.

please as bad as Isiah was as a president/GM, dude was an even worse coach. In the 2 years he coached this team the 1st year the only set that he ran was stand the @*!% a round and dump the ball into @#*++@# Eddy Curry (who he was convinced could be our next franchise player/Ewing and worth 2 unprotected lottery pick) and just watch him either heave it at the hoop, turn it over, or barrell into the defense for an offensive foul (once the double teams cameOriginally Posted by ATGD7154xBBxMZ

In his second year it was the same no ball movement, one man, stand around kind of $%*@ but it was all have Jamal Crawford take the ball up as a PG, cross up the D, and jack up pull ups/fade aways while everyone else stood and watched. Much love to Mal and when he was on, he is one of the best scoring 2 guards in the NBA right now imo, but he is wayyy too inconsistent to EVER be considered anything more than a #3 scoring option and certainly should not be starting at the point.
Anyway hearing Isiah's name being mentioned with anything related to thois team right now makes me sick. It makes me sick that Dolan keeps on running to Isiah and as a result underminded Donnie (who was the one piece doing everything to fix our mess and keep this franchise together) and got him gone. It makes me even sicker to hear @#*++@# Isiah talking to ESPN and $%*@ saying hes not interested or whatever. Like seriously shut your @#*++@# dumb @#+ @#*++@# mouth!

Leave it to @#*++@# Dolan to give Larry Brown $50 million when he didnt do $%*@ and our roster was garbage, give Isiah a nice extension in March, and when Donnie deserves to get everything he wants from us given to him in a silver platter dumb @#+ Dolan +%%$% it all up again. Anyway, now looking forward, i like Allan Houston running this team but idk if hes ready yet. RealGM posted today that D'Antoni would not be opposed (too little, too late) to hiring a defensive assistant. Stephen A Smith wrote the other day that d'Antoni is almost certainly gonna be out once this whole lockout $%*@ is taken care of (good @#*++@# riddance), which im cool with. In the RealGM article they mentioned Laurence Frank as a possibility as a defensive cordinator for us, but i honestly think we should take a long look at Frank to replace D'Antoni.
He is a local kid from north Jersey and did a great job with the Nets right off the bat and was only fired cause they had a $%*@ team. Even after hes been big as an assistant in Boston essentially replacing Thibideau (who we could have and probably should of hired back in 0
, hes a little soft spoken, which is not necessarily bad, but has always been known for being one of the hardest working coaches in the NBA, hes got a little bit of a young JVG swag to him IMO, pretty similar in their work ethics, backgrounds, how they carry themselves, coaching style, etc. I like him or of course Mark Jackson which you all know to coach this team.Our offense is not going anywhere, we already have 2 of the best offensive players in the NBA, plus a guy like Frank can coach high powered offenses like he showed back when he was in NJ, i feel like we NEED a coach who will primarily stress defense because that is the area that is not necessarily there while our offense will be our strength regardless considering our talent imo. I just want a guy who can draw up plays when we need and manage timeouts well unlike @#*++@# D'Antoni when it comes to coaching offense.
