No one knew whether Amar'e and Felton would work, so we had to keep that Melo+CP3 hope alive.

That frontcourt woulda been

This is like the Lee Vs Stat argument ......

You don't compare Will to Melo, not even close.

If we have to let Will walk this off season to sign Melo, you do it and don't look back.

Even though I believe he's heading home to Dallas, I think I'm starting to prefer a Deron long term contract.

And here come the outcries to keep Wilson Chandler, the desperate mathematics to figure out how the Knicks can sign Carmelo Anthony as a free agent this summer and yet still have room to re-sign Chandler, who will be a restricted free agent. The hopelessly optimistic permutations that do not include Chandler and may still satisfy the Nuggets in a trade for Carmelo.

And this is all good for Chandler. I remember a few weeks ago when I asked him if he was insulted by the notion that the Nuggets didn't want to make a trade with the Knicks because they felt there wasn't any valuable talent on the roster. Wilson looked up, shrugged and said, "No, I don't want to go to Denver."

The Knicks don't want to send him there, either. All along the best-case scenario has been to deal with the Carmelo situation once he's a free agent and those close to the Nuggets star know that would be the best situation for him from a basketball perspective, because he'd be joining a team without the roster losing any significant pieces from the rotation. Imagine a front-court of Carmelo, Wilson and Amar'e Stoudemire. Yes, that does mean the continuation of small-ball, but the Knicks seem to be doing well playing this way (and when you need to run a grind-it-out halfcourt set, Melo is as good a post-up forward as there is in the game).

If this goes into next summer.. the same that happened with Lee might happen with Chandler..Sign Melo.Sign and trade Chandler or.. most likely Gallo for a Center..

If we sign Melo, keeping Will would make no sense.

Gallo would compliment Melo and be exactly what we would need over Will.

Will make as much threes as Gallo, with a better percentage. We don't really need a one dimensional 3pt shooter. Why not have a player that is more diverse that can knock down threes almost just as good. ?

If there was anyway Chandler-Melo-Stat was to play vs Gallo-Melo-Stat. Chandlers team would win

In the mean time...Eddy Curry can lose his feet to diabeetus already.

But AR and Mason definitely need a new home.

Walker, Rautins, Douglas, Azubuike and just maybe Mozgov probably do too.

Month and half left, I wonder what Donnie Corleone got in mind.

Robin Lopez – Phoenix Suns: This could be an intriguing option… Lopez is the type of rebounding/ defending/ hustle big that the Knicks could certainly use. Moreover, he has shown he can play effectively alongside Amar'e. Last season, before he got dinged up in the second half of the season, Lopez was playing the best basketball of his short career starting at center next to Stoudemire. Last February (12 games), Lopez averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. In the 31 total games that he started for Phoenix in 2009-2010, Robin averaged 11.3 points (on 59.7% shooting), 6.2 boards, and 1.1 blocks.

It is also important to note that Phoenix just acquired Marcin Gortat from Orlando, who is the Suns' presumptive 'center of the future.' Gortat is set to earn $21.8 million over the next three seasons. Phoenix also inked Channing Frye to a long-term deal this past summer, which will pay him $24.8 million through 2015. (Hakim Warrick is also locked in for three seasons as well.) Moral of the story: The frugal Suns have a lot of money wrapped up in their frontcourt. Lopez's current salary pays him $1.9 million this season, and he'll earn $2.9 million next year. After that, he has a $4 million qualifying offer for the 2012-2013 season. Phoenix owner Robert Sarver would likely be willing to move Lopez for the right price, as they may not view him as a long-term piece of the puzzle. You know Walsh (and Jim Dolan) would also be willing to throw in $3 million in cash to sweeten the pot, which would definitely appeal to Sarver.

Would not mind at all.

I just be disappointed when I hear or read Robin Lopez name knowing how much better his brother is as he wastes his career with the Nets

Never figured Chandler would be involved in a trade for Melo. Don't think the Nuggs want him anyway. I always figured he'd be gone for a center. Didn't the Grizzlies management say they liked him? I specifically want Marc Gasol. Would hope they throw in Mayo too

but I know that won't work out money wise without adding more players or a 3rd team.

Gallo has a lot more potential then being just a 3 point specialist.

I doubt the Suns would move Lopez to us, just because.

I'm going to need a avy from 1:08-1:12, and then fade into 1:15-1:17 right after

Yeah, I know, I guess that's why it was intriguing to me.

my theory is this: What Donnie said regarding Wil was so out of character, he always answers questions with a response generally that all options are open, it leads me to believe that Donnie was trying to inflate Wi's trade value and decrease Melo's trade value. Now the leak today saying that the Nets were close on a Melo deal during the X-mas break is a shot fired by the Denver FO to increase the pressure on Donnie especially when you consider that every outlet said that the Nuggets were going to take a break from trade negotiations due to the death od Melo's sister. Add to this that Hahn wrote today that the Nuggets actually like Wil, previously he has said that the Nuggets dont like anybody on the roster, leads me to believe that the Nuggets want Wilson and know that we are Melo's first choice. Donnie is reluctant to part with Wilson at the same time however.

Just doesnt make sense why Donnie would tip his hand and why theres a random "Nets were about to get Melo" report.

the alternate theory is that Wil and Donnie already have the frameworks to a deal worked out, highly unlikely but maybe Wil will take a discount this summer.

And on the Gallo Wil debate remember that Gallo has played one less season and the type of jump WIl has taken this season might still be coming for Gallo. Cant overlook the fact however that WIl is shoting a better 3 point % then Gallo this season so im not sure if that is a good argument when choosing Gallo over Wil.

Makes perfect sense..

And no.. PHX will NOT make any trades with us..

Mike is here.. Amare is here.. we're winning they're not. You think they wanna help us out ?

If PHX is deciding to blow up their team they might. Their trade with ORL really made me feel they gave up and are looking to rebuild. Don't Robin anyway.

Wish we could trade them D'Antoni for Gortat though.

Too many mind games with Den and NY using the Nets as a pawn. I aint even sure what's going on as far as these rumors every time they get close or start talking with the Nets again.

I just hope the closer to Feb. the better the chance Donnie molests them in to a trade by giving up the very least.
