Series win over the Cardinals

One win away from NL home field advantage.

Things couldn't be better on the North Side....

I am a trinity international Trojan. Deerfield ftw.
I will however be running amok on ISU's campus as part of my celebration. Things get crazy down here when the Cubs are in the playoffs.
I imagine they do, especially when they choke

Sorry - just got to this now, tylerdub. Thats cool. I was there in Normal in 1998 when they clinched a wild card spot after the one game playoff with theGiants. There was mass rioting on campus, with state troopers coming in to silence the crowds. I remember someone lighting a shopping cart full of burning wooddown Fell Ave.....LOL Of course, the Cubs ended up getting swept by the Braves.

I hope like hell it ain't true but if you read the schedule on ESPN, they still have us listed as pitching Harden and Z both this week including HardenTWICE!! That better not be the case, serious.

I wanna see some Sean Marshall, dig up Rich Hill, maybe even Marquis on two days rest.

Heck yeah, Sean Marshall should definitely get a start or two. If Rich Hill's arm wont fall off, he should pitch. Maybe even give ol Jeff Samardzjalaklifnoa start. Well not Jeff, he will probably have a role in the playoffs.

Any of you Cubs fans get an Email from the Cubs yet? about tickets for the postseason.

Starters won't pitch over 5 innings, much like Dempster pitched on Sunday. If Zambrano and Harden don't pitch again until the playoffs, they may berusty and then everyone will argue how Lou should've pitched them a couple of times.

the starters have to play bc we're playing teams that are in the playoff chase and it would be unfair for the other teams if we threw our AA team at them.

not me. look it what a little break did to big z

i wouldn't mind some bp done by the starters but i wouldn't care them sitting as long as they can keep their head on straight.

If Lou wants to pitch his starters, he can. I just dont want to see any 100+ pitch outings. Really anything over 80 or so is too much, especially for Z andHarden.

Don't worry, Z or Harden won't sniff 80 pitches. And screw the other teams, we'll play who we damn well please.

Isn't that when you and FB went at it ?

So if the Brewers win the wild card....Cubs play the Dodgers right?

If the Mets win the wild Card, Cubs play the Mets....

Hey I can admit I was wrong, but there was no way I was counting my team out in July. Plus it's a must I give my fellow division rivals ajawing, that's part of the game.

All love dude, reading it cracked me up.

Cubs haven't done anything yet. Everything we've gone through the past two years has been a setup to this point. The real tests begins soon, and wemust take advantage of the moment. Destiny hasn't been written yet, but the path towards the ultimate goal is now lit.

Let's get it..

postseason baseball is always sacred to me. Especially when the Cubs are in. For me, there's nothing quite like it. Beats the NBA playoffs and NFLpostseason to me at least. The real season begins, October 1st.

This post had me rolling during the Cubs vs. Sox series, Stringer Bell coming in here trying to start trouble was always funny.

This season is a complete failure if the Cubs do not win the World Series. Soriano, Harden, Edmonds, and Piniella were all brought here for that reason. We canget 100 wins, we can win the NLCS and if we get bounced in the WS none of it will have mattered.

PS: SickKickz loving the avy.

Home field advantage! I straight up hit the ground laughing when Marquis hit the granny.

I'm going to be in Milwaukee this Saturday for the Cubs/Brew Crew game. I initially bought these tickets at season's start thinking they might meansomething (well, to us!). Are we going to have to lose intentionally, just so we can get MIL in the playoffs so we can face the Dodgers?

Honestly.... I am not sure who I want to play. The Mets don't scare me, especially with no closer now. The Dodgers have been hot in September, but cooledoff a bit lately. I want no part of the Phillies. Thats the team that scares me the most.

Also, how do you guys feel about the playoff rotation? Zambrano/Harden/Dempster/Lilly? Marquis is most certainly going back to the bullpen; I had questionedhis playoff status before his outing last night.

I heard them on the radio talking about rotations.

Dempster
Harden
Z
Lilly

thats what mully and hanley think anyway.

I cant help but think that Lou almost has to run Z out there for game 1. Honestly though, Dempster has been the man this season, so i can see him going first.I guess you could alos argue for Harden, who has been insane. I dont think he will get 1 though. I see him having about an 80% chance of starting 2.
Z has been pitching well on long rest, so starting him in game 1 is going to give him longer rest for the NLCS.

this is a good problem to have. 3 very excellent choices for 1, plus Lilly at 4. Lou is really trotting out 3 game 1 starters for the first 3 games of eachseries. that makes me very happy.
