OFFICIAL 2009/2010 EPL Season Post

You couldn't have been watching this match if you really believe that it was Villa's ineptitude that caused this scoreline. Chelsea played one of their more impressive matches of the season today. Plenty of gorgeous one-touch football despite the fact that Villa tried to put 10 behind the ball and were quite organized.

On the Nasri goal, you really can't give a player with that talent that much space. I love that guy, just wish he weren't on Le !!%%.

Villa down 7-1 now...

Must be thinking of the FA cup.

I've been saying it for 4 years now...Almunia is one of the worst keepers in the Premiership.

He cost the team 2 pts today and maybe their title hopes too. Arsenal played their butts off in the 2nd half and were on their way to 3 pts until this #!*$#! idiot allows the softest goal in history. He also made some terrible mistakes earlier in the half (Birmingham player missed an empty net, Almunia tried to punch the ball out but it went straight to a Birmingham player) but he got away with it.

Unload Almunia to the Red Bull and please sign Hugo Lloris Arsene, same as the day we played them when Eduardo had his injury...throw away a late equalizer, they don't seem to learn.

Not to account for Almunia being horrible...but Chu-Cho was definitely interfering with play there and that goal should not have counted.

This is why I cant take Arsenal's title aspirations seriously. When you count on guys like Almunia, Campbell, Denilson, Walcott and Bendtner you can expect the worst.

New fan of European soccer... someone school me

i know its the end of the season but why is it so rare to see a team at full strength?
are there that many injuries?
Or do they often get a off game to rest?
Do coaches sit top players when they play a weaker team?

All of the above.

Players often play 80+ matches a year (pre-season, league, cup, international matches) which means:
-there are many injuries
-coaches try to get their players as much rest as possible
-the best time to rest players is often against weaker teams. Conversely, really weak teams may rest their best players against elite teams in hopes that their rested players can perform well against other weak teams.

Chelsea scores 7, Arsenal chokes on it again, and Man U would be down were it not for an unforced own goal and a stupendous save from Van der Sar.

I'm sorry, but Berbatov did nothing in this game to deserve a

. He fell on his *$! at the end of a 1-2 when he could have had a nice goal, and his two goals were pure tap-ins set up by the technique of other players.
Dude is the Bendtner of Man U. Or the Anelka of Man U. you could say.

Damn it!!!!! Now our title hopes are really really slim.
Never say never...Utd and Chelsea still play eachother next week and Chelsea and Utd both have to play some pretty tough teams, I knew Birmingham would be the 2nd hardest team to play other than City on our remaining schedule. We need to keep getting 3 points and not think about anything else, I really think Barcelona was on our players minds today. We really need to have a good result Wednesday and next Saturday when we host Wolves.

it takes a good amount of intuition and football IQ to be at the right place at the right time, its part of being an affective striker...see inzaghi, batistuta, trezeguet etc all classic goal poachers.
