when manny goes up to bat, the wholeeeeeee place would stand up and cheer - without him no fans stand up and cheer for a player.

although our bullpen straight +@%@%% up the game, we still were in the game - we had the winning run @ the plate.

i guess these next 49 games, we should act as if manny is injured.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but Casey Blake was swinging for the fences. A walk off HR, would have completed the cycle

. It would have been awesome.

The bullpen blew the game tonight. Watching the game tonight, it might be that the bullpen is gassed. Belisario and Troncoso have been overused. Brent Leachwas brought into a situation, where he was bound to fail. I mean it was his 2nd major league game, and was expected to get out of a major jam. JMac stillisn't what he was last year, even in his brief relief appearance. Cory Wade got bombed on, so he still might be suffering the effects of being overused in2008. The Nats were making contact with every pitch, looked like BP out there.

smh.gif
@ Juan Pierre. When Loretta walked, I already had the

face asPierre was walking up to bat. Sure enough, he hits a weak ground out to end the rally.

I guess we won't go 81-0 at home,

Homegirl thinking she won't get crap thrown at her because....
That's really, really pathetic.

To treat people like that just because they support an opposing team?

Scum of the earth are found at Dodger Stadium.

#!** off, NOBODY from here goes into your teams threads to talk !*## so why do it here?

There's a time and a place for everything. I'm ALL FOR opposing teams fans because it makes for some playful banter, BUT when you're sitting higherup or in the outfield you KNOW there are people with an itchy hand to start trouble.

Anywhoo, back for what I came in here to post.

Just got home from getting a cut, mom was making pozole and watching univision, Esteban and Jenni are done

Pure Power loses Manny
Truro dentist Makkar, company removes Dodgers slugger from website

MATT VENO
The Truro Daily News

TRURO - The Pure Power Mouthguard has lost one of its biggest clients.
The company, whose product was developed by Truro dentist Dr. Anil Makkar, is cutting ties with Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Manny Ramirez after he was suspended by Major League Baseball for 50 games Thursday for testing positive for a banned substance, HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin).
Makkar learned about the news early Thursday afternoon when he was contacted by Ramirez's marketing agent. He said he was disappointed to lose such a high-profile athlete from his lineup, but feels no longer using Ramirez's name to endorse his product is the best way to go.

"Big companies like Nike and Adidas lost athletes because of that," Makkar said Thursday. "You don't want to have that message going out to up-and-coming athletes that you need performance enhancing drugs to get better."
Makkar said he received word from the Pure Power Mouthguard head office in Toronto that the company was in the process of removing Ramirez's picture from its website.
Ramirez, one of the most feared hitters in the game, has been using the Pure Power Mouthguard since February 2008 when Makkar met him at spring training in Fort Myers, Fla., to fit him for one.
He's been the biggest baseball player in the Pure Power Mouthguard lineup. After he was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Dodgers last season, Ramirez helped push the L.A. club into the post season, past the Chicago Cubs and into the National League final against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Ramirez has picked up right where he left off this season, leading his Dodgers to the best record in the MLB at 21-8, which includes the longest home winning streak ever to start a season at 13 games, surpassing the 1911 Detroit Tigers (12-0). In 27 games, he is batting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBI.
Makkar said he was surprised to hear the news, especially since there had been no speculation Ramirez was using banned drugs after passing several tests over the past five years.
"I was shocked," he said. "I've met him many times and I was surprised to hear he failed a test. Nobody has talked about it before. It never came up.
"Major League Baseball has really strong rules about doing testing and he's aware of that."

But Makkar doesn't feel losing Ramirez will be a detriment to his product with other high-profile athletes as Phoenix Suns centre Shaquille O'Neal, Buffalo Bills receiver Terrell Owens, Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme and Ottawa Senators centre Jason Spezza also on his client list. PGA golfer Mike Weir was fitted with one Wednesday, joining a list of several other PGA players.
"We've got a lot of great things happening," Makkar said. "The thing with Manny is disappointing but we'll get another great baseball player."
Los Angeles Dodgers' Predictions Without Manny Ramirez
The timing could not be better for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Of course, they would always prefer to have Manny Ramirez in the lineup, but the team's hot start, a weak division and a very easy schedule over the next 50 games, still make LA a playoff team and likeliest National League Champion.

Before the season, when Manny and the Dodgers were working on a contract, we conducted an analysis to show how important Ramirez could be to the Dodgers.

At that time, we simulated the 2009 season 10,000 times with and without Ramirez in LA's lineup and suggested that the Dodgers would be 5.4 wins (89.8 wins compared to 84.4 wins) better over the course of the season than without. They would also see an increase in playoff probability from 30.5% to 42.3%.

While most others are speculating on what happened to cause this, now that "Mannywood" is shut down for the next 50 games due to a positive test for a banned substance, we again look forward to project what will happen versus what would have happened.

Based on our new analysis, where we simulated the next 50 games 10,000 times in both scenarios, we calculate that losing Manny Ramirez will only cost the Dodgers 2.3 wins over the next 50 games.

Their record without Man-Ram is projected to be 29.3 - 20.7 over the stretch that ends July 3; whereas the Dodgers were projected to go 31.6 - 18.4 with Manny.

No, it's not that Juan Pierre is a great replacement for Ramirez-in fact, he projects to hurt the team more than a standard minor league call-up replacement player-it's more that the rest of the team is still really good and the Dodgers have an extremely easy schedule over the next 50 games.

Los Angeles currently sits atop our weekly MLB Power Rankings (published Monday mornings).

The Dodgers are significantly ahead of the rest of the league, scoring the second most and giving up the second fewest in our simulations for the article. From now until Manny's return just before the All-Star break, LA only plays one team-the New York Mets-ranked in the top 12 in those rankings. Clearly, the Dodgers lucked out with the schedule.

Furthermore, a case can be made that the Dodgers final record will not be much different at all. Our original analysis in March predicted that Ramirez would miss almost 30 games. With a 50-game break, one could assume that Manny will not need as many off days over the last 83 games as he normally would.

Given that he would usually miss around 15 games in that stretch and that he would be fresh, healthy and looking for something to prove, it is not unreasonable to believe that he would cut that number in half or more (he's only missed two of LA's first 29 games).

If Ramirez only misses six games after his suspension instead of our original projection 15, the Dodgers should gain back 0.51 wins (the schedule is tougher in the second half, making Manny more important to winning).

This means that, with Manny's suspension, our projected final regular season record for the Dodgers dips just slightly 100.7 - 60.3 to 98.9 - 62.1.

That's it. Fifty games without a team's best player results in just about two less wins. The Dodgers are still the resounding National League West favorite and even project to finish with the best record in all of baseball.

It should be noted that, based on LA's current .724 winning percentage, the Dodgers would be on pace to go 36.2-13.8 over the next 50 games and win 117 games. Obviously they are great team, yet are very unlikely to maintain that level of success under any circumstances.

That being said, starting the season 13 games above .500 is one of the major catalysts for the Dodgers' projected stranglehold on the division.

This analysis also assumes that everyone else on all teams stays reasonably healthy-and clean. Unforeseen injuries (or suspensions) could alter the projections.

"Pierrewood" may not be as fun or lively as its predecessor, but the Dodgers will more than hold their ground while Manny Ramirez sits out until July. And just think about a fresh Manny with a chip on his shoulder in the playoffs...

...why dont you go to yahoosports, espn or mlb instead and look up at the dodgersin the standings homie!

ironman is spot on with the bullpen being overused, i just didnt understand what torre was doing.

i havent looked at his exact stats, but wolf could have gone another inning, he didnt need to get the hook for a pinch hitter, who xavier paul grounded into aDP.

then torre goes into the pen and uses troncosco who seems like he's pitching every damn day, then torre continues to play musical chairs with wade, jmacand leach.

why even put leach in a situation like that? im sure wolf still had it in him to go 1 more inning, shorten up the bullpen rotations and go for themothereffin' win.

& i had some sick tickets today, but since im sick i gave them away free to my bro-in-law, i would have gave it to someone here but i dont think anyonewould wanna pick them up in corona.

haha bikmike ol' chick is gonna look like a damn ****** if she decides to do that, it will not be a goodlook.

@ dr715, you sure that doesn't happen over there when dodger fans make the trip up north.

When the Dodgers were up here at AT&T, there were TONS of Dodgers fans sitting around the stadium and were left alone to watch the game. Evenwhen though it was a comeback victory, I didn't see a single Giants fan heckling a person wearing Dodgers gear. People around here show up to enjoy theexperience of being at a ballgame, not enjoy the experience of belittling another person.

eek.gif
i didnt know you can see the entire ballpark.

dont be that naive to think it doesnt happen at every ballpark.

on a sidenote, there rhianna nudies now

How did I know that was going to be a comeback? "How could you see the entire stadium, duurrrr."

It's funny how all of you are being so defensive about this when most of you admit that this is a problem at your own stadium.

Scum of the earth.
