Rose: With Perkins Gone, We Know We Can Beat Celtics
Publicly, Derrick Rose told the Chicago Sun Times Wednesday that he was concerned that the Bulls were "not moving in the right direction."

Privately, within the Bulls locker room, their belief that they could beat the Celtics changed when Boston traded Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma City.

The Bulls felt that with Perkins gone, everything changed for the Celtics. They no longer had the toughness, the tenacity, the presence in the post.

“He was tough,

Tony Allen said the same thing earlier this week on the radio, it's much easier attacking the basket knowing the Celtics don't have Perkins patrolling the paint.

Then again, I'm sure Shaq can provide a similar intimidation when (if?) he returns.

Yea but I think everyone forgets Perk was hurt the whole year

Bucher said today that it seems as though Perk getting traded took away their toughness. You think he would have let Kurt stand over Baby like that and taunt him. He compared KG to Gasol without Bynum

Watch the Mavs mop them up? Or the other way around?

watch the Mavs mop them up.  That would put a big smile on my face for all those teams clamoring to play them

.

I'm not trying to say anything.. The way this team is playing I have no clue.

And I'm not banking on Caron making it back even if we're playing in June.. The dude is still only taking setshots.

He's working his #+# off, I'm not questioning that, but I just don't think he can recover quick enough to make an impact.

But whatever. Find out who we play first, and take it day-by-day, game-by-game.

I get you. But if I'm George Karl, I don't go out in an interview and say I'd rather play the Mavs. That's asking for it. And I'm rooting for the Nuggets to make a run but that wasn't smart at all. The last thing you ever want to do is give a team material like that to use as motivation.

I'll just say the last team I want to play is Memphis.

I'd rather play New Orleans or Portland, but not Memphis or Denver first.

I hope you get your wish, that would be an entertaining thread no matter the team that wins.
Sources: Nets, Jay-Z fined $50,000
The New Jersey Nets have been fined $50,000 for Nets minority owner Jay-Z's presence in the Kentucky locker room after the Wildcats clinched a Final Four berth, according to sources with knowledge of the penalty.

Word circulated around the league Friday that an unnamed team -- which sources confirmed to ESPN.com is the Nets -- was fined for violating league rules that prohibit contact with players who still have collegiate basketball eligibility remaining.

The NBA's investigation, first reported by CBSSports.com, was triggered by a video showing Jay-Z visiting with various Kentucky players in their locker room at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., after the Wildcats' quarterfinal victory over North Carolina.

Though the circumstances of the visit seemed harmless enough, with Kentucky players clearly more excited about meeting a world-famous rap mogul as opposed to a part-time NBA team executive, Nets officials were expecting a fine based on what happened to Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge in 2007.

Boston was fined $30,000 that year for "excessive contact with the family" after Ainge was spotted sitting next to Kevin Durant's mother at the Big 12 tournament.

He only gave daps to the players.  I wonder if MJ's going to get fined for talking sneakers with North Carolina players

Hey, off-topic but when will the first home playoff game be for lower seeded teams? Trying to figure out the format.

First game would be on 4/16, second on 4/18? Then two days for travel, and first game at home (or Game 3) on the 21st? Or at least around there?

That Simmons article today had a LOT of great stuff about Howard, Rose, Bron/Wade, the Perk trade, the Grizz and pretty much murdered the soul of Joe Johnson.

The way this team is playing, they're gonna get their $*$@$ kicked in Round 1. Regardless of who they play.

They don't match up particularly well with anyone in the playoffs right now. Maybe they beat New Orleans. The other 3? I doubt it.

Ehh, dude has a clear bias against Howard for whatever reason.  The guy compares him to all the 90's centers saying he should be where they are offensively without mentioning he is better defensively.  And that bringing every game ##*$ is crap.

You don't think there's merit to him thinking Dwight should murder these NBA centers even more than he already is?
ohwell.gif

You could be right on the ax to grind against Dwight, might be some merit, but he's also dead on about more damage should be done against these guys.  That said, i think Dwight improved a lot this season.  Maybe next year he will be doing what we expect.  I could see it happening.
