Sonics fan here: I rooted for individual players for a couple season (or, at least took a greater interest in individuals). I liked what I saw in Derrick Rose, and I liked the off-season moves the Bulls made (in the wake of The Decision and such), so I decided to start rooting for them. I've really enjoyed being able to follow a team but not have to be totally invested. I went to my first NBA game in three years last week when they played Miami and it was awesome. I'm not telling you to root for the Bulls, I'm just saying you may find a team based on an individual player (and franchise) whose game you admire.Originally Posted by rck2sactown

Oh, and Chris Webber is a great commentator. Not only is he my favorite player ever, he might be my favorite basketball personality, period.

BOSTON â Iâm at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference for the next two days, and Iâll try to file some updates here and there between the panels and conversations with NBA/geek royalty here.
Malcolm Gladwell, the best-selling author, is moderating the first panel, which is about the notion, developed by experts who study talent and discussed in Gladwellâs book âOutliers,â
