I have a serious question for you guys. How did Joe Dumars get this bad this fast? I thought he did a great job of putting that championship pistons team together but it's been all downhill since.

The Most Joe Dumars Offseason Plan Ever
Dumars has been the Pistons GM for 13 years. How likely is it really that he’s going to change his ways now? Let’s see what he did when he won. He brought in a combo guard to play point, got a 2 guard who could shoot the 3, a small forward known for one on one defense, a character issues stretch four that that people thought was stupid to bring in, and a defensive anchor at center with beastly efficiency numbers.

After Chauncy he tried combo guard AI, followed by combo guard Stuckey, followed by combo guard Knight...
Ben Godon was supposed to be a 3 point shooting 2 guard

Chuckles was a stretch four with character issues but talent. He who shall not be named was another big man with questionable work ethic but loads of potential.

Just trying to point out that Dumars likes his combo guard/shooter/one on one defender/stretch four reclamation project/Defensive anchor like Pop likes foreign guys.

Dwight ending up with the Rockets is so boring compared to if he went to the Warriors in a sign and trade. Curry-Klay-Iggy-Lee-Dwight would have been one hell of a team with the greatest home crowd in the league. Their home games might have been all-time status in the fun category. Then you add to the fact that the Lakers would have ended up with Nash-Kobe-Barnes-Pau-Bogut and that makes things even more intriguing. That team, if healthy, could have contended with anybody. It pisses me off we'll never get to see what could have been. Instead, Dwight went to the Rockets with him, Harden, Parsons and a bunch of role players. Blah.

no matter where he goes dwight will never be the man on a team. his game is not suited for that

harden is the man on that rockets team.

25 ppg and young. make no mistake.

i do not get some people who think dwight is all of a sudden going to average near 30 a game. when has he done that? not in orlando with a bunch of trash.

thats not his game. its a shame a big man like him only gets a bit over an assist a game for his career

you can blame kobe, blame antoni, blame the pressure, but seriously dwight is dwight.

dwight would have been great on the lakers because we would have had another max player to put next to him and a really good player to go along. he wa never going to be that franchise player regardless of what mitch kupchak or any person on the lakers organization fed his ego at the time

he averaged what 17 ppg last year with the lakers playing less minutes than the previous 2 years and getting worse at the free throw line by about 10 percent.

if he was healthy and made his free throws he would have gotten his averages or better

nobody hindered his game

lakers would have been better off had he re signed with them but what can you do? cannot force someone to stay if he doesnt want to
and the same was said about the big three both with the c's and the heat....difference is they all catered and altered their respective games to compliment for the greater good.

Also in the case of the heat...LeBron is more of a facilitator.... then kobe...plus bosh/wade altered/catered their games and dialed down who they were to make things work out. This hasn't been the case since shaq left...for kobe. Kobe isn't going to or is willing to do this as history has shown us...and with Dwight, he isn't a diverse and well rounded enough offensive player to do so...

So here you have two players that need the ball/dominate the ball and need the offense to revolve around them...in which one player being kobe, who isn't going to change his style of play, and another player who doesn't have the offensive skill set nor was willing to change his style of play to cater to kobe and dantoni system....It was a failure from the start.

It was basically a reincarnation...of the final year of shaq and kobe... except with an older more established set in his ways kobe...who due to winning his way wasn't/isn't gonna change....and a younger version of shaq, who isn't wasn't gonna change, and a less savvy, skilled coach. Using a system that really wasn't favorable to either player.

It was a dead flight even before it took off the ground. It didn't work a decade a ago...with a much better kobe, and a much better player in shaq...and a much better coach/system in phil...why would it work now?

maybe but how in terms of money/Dwight that been better? Yea its a good move from a basketball fan/would love to play it on nba2k aspect. But for Dwight, money, less/better situation in terms of child support and getting free training by akeem the dream...it wouldn't have been the best move for Dwight. Only ppl who really benefit from this is warriors fans and especially lakers fans, seeing as all they got for Dwight was older.

Lol since when did drose become a world beater? Hasn't dude only been out the first round once?
the hype train surrounded him is kinda like steve nash circa the suns and his mvp years....dudes was hailing him as one if not the best...and was basically getting ran out of the playoffs.

Some people actually believe he's gonna come back and run the east lol dude wasn't running things during his mvp year when he was at his best. Now dudes coming off a year where he didn't even play and he's the world beater who's gonna knock everybody off

he was mvp when he was 22. it's not hype, it's a fact. he has backed it up since he stepped on an nba court

what's a fact? That he's been out the first round once? People are acting like he was knocking off teams before he got injured. All. Of a sudden rose is gonna come back and knock off the heat give me a break.

how many times were they favored
they pushed the c's to 7 his rookie yr
lost to cavs the next
got out the first and lost to heat. had home court but the heat made it to the finals and almost won chip
injured vs phil (probably wouldve made it out the first with him)
out all season (team got past nets without him)

Exactly my point why so much hype around him?

This right here. Kobe isn't will to sacrifice his game in order to help the team and the sad thing is that we know he can. There was a stretch this past January where he was averaging 12+ assist and he was looking for his teammates before his own shots. Hell they even beat the Thunder during that run so he can definitely be a facilitator, but the fact that he chooses not to is only going to hurt his team and the organization.

MVP at such a young age.
Athletic and explosive around the rim.
Highlight reel every night.
Heir apparent to MJ that will bring glory back to Chicago.

Let's face it, hype isn't based on stats and numbers.

you guys are missing the point though. saying dwight is a young shaq? what the blue hell?

Never compare shaq with dwight. they are two different players

shaq was a beast offensively and could dominate on offense. Dwight will NEVER be able to do that. NEVER

So surrounding the best center in the league with one of/if not the best shooting back court of all-time, one of the top perimeter defenders in the league and an All-Star power forward that can play inside-out wouldn't have benefited Dwight at all? That team literally couldn't have complimented Dwight any better. That squad could have been one of the most likeable and entertaining contenders of all-time. Dwight would have been on a fun team that WINS with the best crowd in the league. His image would be restored so quickly.

I think things are gonna be rough in Houston when he realizes that the offense is solely going to be dependent on him and Harden the same way it just was with Kobe. Only difference will be that Harden is a better facilitator and more willing to pass the ball.

Dwight would have flourished here on the Warriors. Orlando was pretty much Dwight surrounded with a bunch of shooter, GS would have been Orlando on steroids. You have 2 player who shoots over 40% from beyond the arc, combined to hit over 500 3 pointers this past season, and an all star power forward who can hit the elbow jumper. They went to the second round with Bogut who was coming off an injury and wasn't even 100%, imagine how much better they would be if they had Howard roaming the paint.

The Derrick Riders or D Riders for short :lol

I like D. Rose and all but I've never seen a player get so much slack from his own fans for doing so little.

What?? D.Rose made the Bulls relevant again. Got them back in the playoffs and into the Eastern Conference Finals. He was injured the past 2 season and look what happen, 1st and 2nd round exits.

I'm sorry bro I wouldn't be using last year a reference point for how important Derek Rose is to the Bulls.

Most franchise players go out and the team doesn't make the playoffs or win any playoff series.

Whether it happened in the second or ECFs the Bulls weren't beating the Heat.

Tom Thibodeau made the Bulls relevant.
