I think it's meaningless unless you put some context next to it.

And exactly what context would that be?
In Paul George's case: improving his ball handling, becoming an above average three point shooter, getting to the free throw line more, finishing better at/near the basket more effectively and cutting down on the turnovers (I'll cut him some slack since this past season was his first as a featured player) are more important than "averaging 20-25 points per game". Of course all that goes together with his stout defense and much needed playmaking for others.

Basically whatever it takes to bring up the Pacers to an above average offensive team.

Dude is an above average offensive player an an elite defender.

Just because his "eliteness" doesnt always translate into big scoring nights doesnt mean that he is any less of a monster.

17, 8 and 4 with 2 steals is pretty damn nice for a third year player who has several other able and willing scorers on the team.

D West was a 17 and 8 guy

Roy Hibbert was a 15 and 10 guy

George Hill was a 14 and 5 guy

and Lance was about a 9 ppg guy

Given the solid offensive contributions from throughout the roster, they didnt NEED Paul George to average 25 ppg.  Oh yeah, and they still got to the ECF with him as their best player.  Give the kid a break, he is certainly a budding superstar in the making.  It just so happens that most of his effectiveness doesnt show up in "easy to read" box score stats like ppg.

Wouldn't say he's above average offensively, but there's still lots of improvement to be made. PG can't create his own shot. He's going to need to work on that and his 3 pt shooting in order for them to beat Miami

Oh for sure, thats why he's a superstar "in the making".  Plenty of them come around and never realize their potential for plenty of reasons: injury, work ethic, poor situations ect).  So hopefully if he works on his deficiencies he can realize that potential.

And Also, there are plenty of STELLAR shot creators and 3 point shooters who can't beat Miami either (Knicks, Bulls with or w/o Rose, Bucks bc Monta have it all and BJ has a little bit, ect)  Indy has shown the ability to do it with PG in the regular season and in the playoffs.  Damn game 7's!

I hope Im wrong about PG but a lot of players start digressing once they get their first big pay day. IMO Paul George peaked last season, this upcoming season aint gonna be as impressive.
October 5th (start of preseason) cant come soon enough.

@TimDonahue8p9s FYI...If the deal gives Paul the 30% max, then it will be closer to $101mm, if he qualifies. (BTW...Wall's is actually $84.1mm)
@TimDonahue8p9s The reported numbers are using the 2013/14 cap, but the contracts will be based on the 14/15 cap, which is projected to be much higher.
@TimDonahue8p9s The dollars for extensions of Wall and George will not be finalized until the cap for 14/15 is established.
@TimDonahue8p9s So, they are estimates. Max contract extensions are expressed in % of the first year's cap at signing.

You're the best we're ever going to see from him is his 3rd year in the league.

Wow. That's a depressing point of view.

PG is going to be alright this year with Danny "coming" back. He should have made that last shot on Lebron tho
