Welp it was a helluva run. Go Hawks!
Meh, go find me another coach winning 60 games and making the ECF with that 58 mil dollar roster. He isn't the best in game adjustment coach. But that's what u have assistants for. Bud diesnt have the luxury of having a team full of assistants like Kerr for example has. He had a great GM but he's still i timeout. Bud gets plenty of blame. He gets hammered by our local atlanta radio hosts all the time. Only to prove them wrong in the long run. He will def learn from this postseason and only get better. Only so much u can do when all 5 starters are hurt and u have one of the bottom 5 salaries in the league.Bud deserves the most blame, but probably won't get a lick of it.
Great system, terrible coach.
this wasn't the year the hawks were suppose to shine. This is year 2 into a 5 year plan. And Danny Ferry has 3 years left on his contract. They Were JUST WAY Ahead Of Schedule and surprised everybody cause they weren't doing it tradionally or with any big name players. No team going into the season with a bottom 5 payroll in the league is suppose to win a championship. Or even make the conference finals for that matter. Coach Bud squeezed every single ounce of juice out now that roster and couldn't have possibly done any better or taken it any farther. All the media talked about was the cavs injuries. Hawks didnt make a big deal out of their injuries like lbj and Cleveland does. Millsap is probably gonna need shoulder surgury. Korver needs ankle surgery. Thabo just had leg surgery. Teague been on a sprained ankle since 1st round. Horford broke his pinky first round. Carroll shouldn't have even been playin after he hurt his knee. Schröder and Scott both broke their big toe right before the playoffs. Scott also was dealing with back issues. Hawks lost cause they couldn't knock down wide open shots. Plain and simple.Damn this was the Hawks year to shine. They got far though props to Coach Bud and my fellow westside Indy native Jeff Teague.
They were just way too overmatched, not healthy and LBJ is just too good. Korver blew it all playoffs. Shelvin Mack taking fadeaways when Jeff drops 30 to tie the game....
Good little run though no one would've expected this.
Yea for the hawks sake. Cause they damn sure better bring him back. Let Millsap walk.Carroll is an idiot for coming back and playing.
hopefully he didn't injure his knee further for his $ake
+1 agree 100%. got all they could with this group. Glad our flaws got exposed so we know what we need going forward. It was a good year. Hawks will be better off come 2016
Adjustments wouldnt have saved this series either way, they weren't good enough to beat the Cavs, simple as that. Plus what adjustments? The best guy suited to D LeBron has a broken leg, and theres not much they could do differently on offense, their most potent offensive guy got hurt, and they have no real ISO players. Their best chance was to keep running the sets they were running all year, and it just was never going to be enough.Mike D'antoni > Bud.
It's one thing to install a great system, but if you can't adjust and tweak it when necessary, then you are no good. Bud made absolutely ZERO adjustments this post season. Dude is trash.
Lol call a dude trash after he just won coy. Just cause he lost to lebron james? Guarantee there are bout 28 other teams out there who would pick up Bud the second he hit the open market.Mike D'antoni > Bud.

How about u look at it like how in the hell did this team make it to the final 4 without a james harden, lebron James, or mvp steph curry. Cost money to get a general. The Atlanta Hawks ownership didn't provide the gm the appropriate amount of money needed to get "a general" only guy they went out and got was thabo and he was nypd'd right before the playoffs. People don't understand what thabo meant to this atlanta team.^
And that's what hurt you guys the most.
Too many soldiers, and not one general.
Oh nah I'm in agreement, they have to go over the cap to do anything. Off the top off of my head the last team to win the championship while being under the cap was San Antonio in 2003.I just don't understand why the hawks have to stay under the salary cap and expect to win ring when all the other contenders are over the cap. Is there a rule or something preventing them from going over the cap? Why can Houston and cleveland have an 80 million+ roster but Atlanta cant? I know u have to pay the luxury tax if u go over, but whose to say Ressler won't go over? How do all the experts already know that the hawks won't go over the cap? They threw 23 mil a year at Joe Johnson. Dunno why they can't throw that at lma or even Durant for that matter. @Antidope@Antidope<!--bluecoat_old_onload = window.onload;window.onload = function() { if (bluecoat_old_onload != null) {try {bluecoat_old_onload();} catch (e) {}}bluecoat_fixpopups();};//-->do u have the answers to these questions?
+1 thank u sir for the response. And i agree must go over the cap to win a ring in the nba today. I guess it's just gonna come down to what Ressler wants to do. Cant imagine he'd be any cheaper than the atlanta spirit group were. And i know atlanta isn't a large market but it's def not small. I mean are 25 other cities bigger markets than atlanta? I mean even Portland has a 92 mil $ salary. Hawks even had a cheaper team than Milwaukee did. Pretty sure they had the cheapest team of all the 16 teams who made the playoffs. If there was ever a time for an atlanta hawks team to break the bank the time is right now considering they're right on the brink. Doesn't take a superstar to win a ring but It damn sure takes a team with a respectable payroll. And 58 million isn't respectable.Oh nah I'm in agreement, they have to go over the cap to do anything. Off the top off of my head the last team to win the championship while being under the cap was San Antonio in 2003.
Its not happening again in todays NBA no way, same reason the Thunder blew their best chance in their title window. Gotta be willing to spend money to win a chip its as simple as that.
IDK how willing a new owner will be to go over the cap right away, especially one thats in a "small market" Cleveland doesnt have to worry about that because they have the walking income generator known as LeBron James, and Houston is a large market team.
But look at what happened to Brooklyn, went way over the cap and it was all for naught.
That being said, the Hawks should do whatever they can to build a real title team come 2016, if I was them I would definitely consider going over.
