Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Idk why we don't play Melo and KP at the 4 and 5 against 90% of the league. Only against teams with big men like Cousins should KP be at the 4.

One article I read said it's good that kp doeant play the 5 all the time is because his bday will take more of a beating as most 5's are bigger and stronger than most 4s. But he is an absolute match up nightmare for teams when he is at the 5.

He's one of if not the best rim protector in the league at the 5. If Noah would've took that money from Washington KP would be getting the bulk of his minutes at center idc what anyone says.

I've heard that rhetoric a bunch of times from Hornacek. And I think it's very very stupid. Draymond Green is 6'7 and plays the 5 a lot. But you wanna keep a 7'3 guy from playing the 5 to keep from wearing him out. Lol, this kind of thinking is just one of the many reasons why the Knicks suck..

Then all of a sudden he became irrelevant. Like he was put here on earth just to **** us that year.

Yup. Refs let that big dummy get away with murder against us. All that favorable whistle and verticality nonsense stopped when they went up against the booty bandits in Miami, after that his career was over.

I wish I can be mad but I can't. Your absolutely right

Gotta give credit to Melo recently. He's out there going for triple doubles and making the right passes, tryna get his teammates more involved.

Yet our PG over here is consistently missing layups and not creating for others. Keep playing for that contract.

yeah man. those were definately solid times. the series against boston was fun, even with us losing 2 games. the wearing black and losing, Celtics going on 20-0 run :lol

Hibbert owned the knicks. I couldnt believe what I was watching.

The dunk that couldve changed the franchise .

The fact that this team was BUILT to beat Miami.

Seriously, they didnt want it with us.

He didn't knock it down they way he wanted but man I remember watching this ready to go ape **** if he hit it right

Setup was still legendary though

I'd be more content with our current state if we just slide Melo and KP down a spot and let it run from there. Melo and KP at the 4 and 5, no Noah, and I'd be far less annoyed with this team than I am.

I don't understand how someone can coach at the highest level and not be "defensive minded". These guys get paid millions to neglect key aspects of their job.
You lived through Pringles didn't you? :lol

So in your scenario, the money spent on Noah doesn't get partially spent on another big man? :lol

Starting KP @ the 5 and keeping him there all season just isn't the best move for him or the team.

Scrubs. Dallas was gonna kick their *** anyway
You officially delusional.

The same Cowgirls who couldn't beat the Giants once all season. They losing regardless next week.

Signing a Cole Aldrich type to a 1 or 2 year deal would've allowed way more flexibility in the starting line up. If you don't understand that idk what to tell you

The "cowgirls" are a dominant team with a first round bye and home field advantage. The Giants going in there and beating them for a 3rd time would've been highly unlikely. Giants had a awesome year defensively but had a major flaw in extremely underwhelming QB play and offensive play calling. Dallas is just too good to lose to such a flawed team three times in one year

But I'm "delusional" :lol

Why are you assuming an Aldrich type would've been signed? Or again that would open the door for KP to start at the 5?

The problem when you guys talk this way is you pretend you're coach and GM when you're not. Things aren't just gonna go the way you hypothetically imagine them to be.

Noah on this team or not isn't making this team that much better. Joakim Noah isn't out here single handedly causing our Ls or even horid defense.

There's a lot to be said that KP starting @ the 5 wouldn't be the best thing for his development this season.

If you don't ever consider the downside to your suggestions you feel can never fail and don't understand the likelihood of that idk what to tell you.

According to what?

This is just that loser talk. No way the Cowgirls can lose for a 3rd time :lol You say this as if a bye or home field advantage means anything when the Giants clearly have the superior defense that they showcased in the last 2 games.

This is pure delusional convince yourself it won't go down like it did the last 2 times talk :lol

If you wanna talk underwhelming QB, I'll be here next week Sunday after they catch their L.

I'm not a Giants fan man, would've actually liked to see them win cause I love when NYC does well sans the Brooklyn Nets. No bias on my end at all.. Dallas Cowboys are a better team than the New York Giants point blank period. If they win against Green Bay next week I'm quite sure your still not gonna give them the credit they deserve because your supposed to hate them and all that but it is what is :lol

Kristaps even in his developmental stage is still at his best playing the 5 right now. He's an elite rim protector and an absolute nightmare matching up against the opposition. When you give someone a 4 year 72 million dollar contract that's a huge commitment, regardless of what happens throughout the season and who develops it's extremely hard to swallow a pill of failure that large especially in season one. **** forget KP the Knicks are a better team when O'Quinn starts but even he can't take the job from Joakim. Knicks would've been way better without signing him because of the flexibility we would've had. Addition by subtraction.

Rose/Jennings
Lee/Baker
Holiday/Kuz
Melo/Thomas
KP/O'Quinn/Billy

Shouldve been our rotation but of course with that huge commitment to Noah it'll never happen. Just thinking about the flexibility and cap space pisses me off big time

Cowgirl fans in a Knicks thread :x

kingfoamnyc kingfoamnyc Giants beat better teams than them all the time. If you look at it on paper that's okay. Matchup wise those, we handle the Cowgirls every time. Consistently rise to the ocassion especially when it counts.

As for the Knicks, I'm not arguing Noah has to start just so KP doesn't or be played cuz of his contract. I'm just saying KP starting this season at center would not serve him well. We've already seen him go ghost in games or not handle the pressure well over the course of the season. Foul trouble is about to be the new things the refs tack on him.

The last thing he needs to be dealing with his this team and their ****** wing defenders, weak help, and 48th quarter penetrators taking up all his energy. Its a 2 way game. Even the best players good at both can not exert maximum effort on defense and offense especially when it counts. There's no way you're convincing me that KP already knows when to give and take with that or has found a balance.

If this team had better defenders maybe it'd make more sense. To me there's playing your rising star so he can make that next step in the development of his game and then there's pinning all of the back court in the paint duties on a 2nd year player on a poor defensive team.
