Only way it goes away is if they win a World Series next year.
NCAA basketball wise. 1 seed Virginia lost to a 16 seed in the ncaa tournament in 2018. They won the title the following year. The 2018-19 Tampa bay lightning had a 2022 dodger like season. Got swept in the first round of the playoffs. They proceeded to win the cup the next two seasons and went back this year.
The only way this is forgotten is if they win a title.
