There is zero doubt LeBron takes care of his body better than pretty much any athlete ever. No argument there. But the mileage is there, and at some point, 33, 34, 35, 36, it's going to get him. Something will pop, something will break, strain, whatever. Doesn't mean it will be career ending or anything, but he's not going to be putting up 27-8-8 at age 35-36-37, to think so is just shortsighted. He has another year or two of THIS LeBron, and then he will enter the Duncan/Dirk role where he has to play 28-30 minutes a night and won't be as effective as when he was 30-31.
I can agree with all of this.

Nash already had a bad back before coming to LA.
Malone was like 40 years old.
Kobe had been injured far more times than LeBron ever has.
Like I said ... y’all are just hoping he gets injured because no evidence suggests he will.

Even if he does slow down, it won't be a steep drop off. Sort of like Tommy Football.

His IQ and size/strength makes me think his game will translate well as he approaches the twilight too.

Yep. This is pretty much what I was trying to say.
He won’t have a sharp decline unless he has a major injury.

Normal convention would serve to see a decline. Especially with athletes who's consistently played at a high level throughout their careers. We usually see an abnormal performance throughout the course of a year during the later years, to follow with a steep decline. We've seen it with Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and even Kobe.

No one can play at this level forever, and eventually you're just on borrowed time. That "wall" is very real.

The thing LeBron has going for him is modern day medical resources on his side which would give him a little more time. Also being in a position where he would have other players around him and allow for him to play off the ball. I think if all the cards play right, his decline would be a gradual regression. It wouldn't be something dramatic like the aforementioned (They had the ball in their hands all the time. Which served as the catalyst towards the optical decline).

This quote beckons...

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

haven't kept up in here since the King made his decision.

Exum gets 3/$33? Makes me feel better about Avery's deal.

Did MVP MVP really say Lebron needs to bring back the powder toss? Gonna get all tingly seeing that?

I'm still baffled how quickly he became a Bron fan. You can't ever be trusted. No credibility. But never change. It provides us pure entertainment.

Idk what makes y’all think Bron is gonna have some steep decline (barring injury).
Probably y’all just praying it happens vs actually believing it

Father Time is undefeated. 35-38 year old high usage players is not where it’s at for winning basketball.

First the defense goes...and you become a “roamer” who’s “conserving energy”. Then you move without the ball less and travel the court at the slowest pace. Then the corner becomes harder to turn, and you settle for more jumpers. Start pump faking like crazy. Final stages are the healing process.

The fact is...Bron has maybe 2 good years of elite basketball. Lakers are content on punting with the first year...so there’s that.

are you dan gilbert?

I would have pretended Lebron wasn't the reason my team was doing better. Would be cheering and talking about how well they are doing but not mention Lebron. Not until at least the all-star break.

I'm petty like that.

I'm giving Lebron 3 elite years and then another 3 years of being very good and better than 96.4% of the league

This outcome would only happen if LeBron played offball. Can't be running the same subservient brand of basketball he's been playing the last 15 years. Way too many miles on him.

i think thats what he'll up doing his last few years. His court vision and basketball IQ will still make him a top 30 basketball player even in his last years.

It's all about optical perception. I've mentioned, the more the ball is in your hands, the more it'll seem like he's declined. In recent memory, Tim Duncan has seemed to be the only Paramount player who's sort of never experienced such a dramatic decline (outside of that last year in SA). Hell, even MJ didn't have one either. Block off backboard/take away with two hands.

He’ll have to sacrifice gaudy numbers for that.....think he’d do it?

Some milestone records are in reach.....

Knowing LeBron? Probably not.

Milestones are certainly within reach. Which is why I think he goes extra hard the next season or two. We're going to see an attempt to replicate this past season. LeBron certainly runs the risk of regression, or at least visible regression.

Once Bron's athleticism goes, he can easily transition into a full time PG.
