I think Luka is just an advanced rookie who will fulfill his potential faster than other young guys but I still think his ceiling is still low because of his lack of physical ability.

We'd probably be talking different if he was 6'10 lol
I think his lack of physical ability is overstated. He's a big dude. He's slow, but he's not a bad athlete. And he's got the smooth type of Harden slowness.

i don't think his lack of physical ability is as pronounced or even hurts his game as much as some of yall are making it out to be though. he's shown his abilities. he has good vision on offense, has a good shot, able to drive and is pretty good on the defensive end

he had a bad game last night. just seemed nervous
I still think he'll be a good player

But if we're talking 'generational talent' those guys have physical ability to match talent

Throughout the summer until now from podcast to people in this thread i''ve heard people spewing that Luka is a franchise changing player, "generational talent", Best prospect since AD etc etc... guys who have that kind of buzz around their name are usually top 5 guys at some point.

I'm not sitting here making mental notes of which one of ya'll posters said what on what specific day, Dudes act as if it isn't said by a NT sports forum analyst it doesn't count... my point is people are projecting him to be a really elite player & i have to see the tools of an elite player
He's going 19/6/4 on 44/38/79 as a rookie. That's as elite as it gets. They're also playing .500 basketball and he's a huge part of it. He's already shown the ability to playmake at a very high level. Don't know what else you're looking to see. He definitely has the tools to be a very good player in this league.

Definitely in the honeymoon phase with Luka. He'll be solid but his weaknesses haven't been exposed yet, and he definitely has weaknesses
People are going on about his weaknesses daily. :lol Saying he isn't athletic enough, not in great shape, and people even suggesting he struggles against length. Nobody claiming he's a flawless prospect, don't know why dudes are just making up arguments.

It's not overstated depending on what level you see Luka being at during his prime. If it's really a top franchise guy then idk how that doesn't become a concern. He is NOTHING CLOSE to Harden athletically nor does he have that kind of handle & quickness with the ball.

I'm not really sure what you mean by generational talent. Like, Unicorn?

Is Chris Paul a generational talent?
Like if you name a decade and the first 5 players you think of when you think of that decade

Like 80s..the first three players you think of is Magic, Larry, Michael easy..

I’m not looking for props but the mavs have been playing really well lately. Look up their november stats. They were 8-2 heading into the game last night coming off back to back victories against Boston & Houston.

Fair enough. It was a good win for the Lakers, no doubt. But doesn’t reveal anything about the team we didn’t already know, IMO.

I never said he was Harden athletically.

He's a unicorn for sure.

I'm talking about exposed on the court. Besides the Lakers I don't think he's really been shut down like that. And he hasn't been in the playoffs where teams can key in on him. I like Luka btw

Again nowhere am i denying that he's a good rookie, or that he won't be a good player.... I am questioning his ability to be an ELITE player on the top of the NBA, a top 5-10 guy. Putting up 19/6/4 on what will be a non playoff team on decent shooting splits isn't exactly guaranteeing his future as a superstar .

Okay well in that case I would disagree with you on the principle that you have to always be a best-of-the-best type athlete to get there, but I certainly don't think it's likely Luka is a top 5 player of the decade. That would be a big stretch.

Okay You said he has that Smooth Harden like Slowness... Luka is SIGNIFICANTLY slower than Harden was my point.
I was just talking about a specific trait of crafty slowness and being able to get to different places on the floor. Not comparing their speeds or making a 1:1.

If he was a laker, They’d call him the white harden kinda like they said they have the next Kidd and Giannis.

Not always. I wouldn't consider Larry Bird a best of the best type athlete, but he was tall enough to make up for it. If Bird was 6'6, he would've needed to be a better athlete. Imo
