The expectations of these second year players were unrealistic

There was a case study I listened to recently on second year players and it reaffirmed this

Tatum, Mitchell etc. are doing pretty much what should be expected to this point

Hmm I wonder who makes the first move and who says no.
As long as Ben continues to purposely not develop a jump shot I wouldn't trade for him

Portland better off hoping they get lucky to land a competent 3 or 4 through a trade. If need be I'd part with Collins

They been goofing for so many years between letting Barton go, signing Turner and drafting Swannigan and Collins in the same draft etc.

They took Alonzo over him though. Not Kuzma.

Which was his point...

Kuz, Tatum & BI on the same team would have Kuz getting 5 minutes a game. I really don’t mind passing on Tatum. Fox is the one I would’ve wanted but even then, I’ll reserve my judgement.

And how was his point about Lonzo? No one even mentioned Zo. He was talking about Tatum. I’m saying the Lakers would rather have Kuz and his contract over Tatum and his contract + having both on the same team would’ve capped both of their ceilings/value

I’m not so sure Lakers front office specifically passed on Tatum because they had Ingram. That’s some dumb Blazers ideology passing on MJ cuz of Drexler.

I think they thought Zo was better for this team as a floor general and fast paced lead guard. I really think they viewed Zo as the best talent available and I would argue Fox Tatum and Mitchell have proven otherwise , but Hindsight is 20/20.

The post was "Lakers goofed" in reply to me posting Tatum's numbers. The Lakers had the #2 pick in the draft and decided to choose Alonzo Ball over Jayson Tatum who went 3rd. Maybe I'm completely making things up though.

BI is the one who would be getting 5 minutes a game in your scenario though. Can't shoot. Tatum, like Kuzma, would be a perfect fit alongside LeBron.

I was saying the Lakers goofed on Tatum over Lonzo (Sixers did too)

Which was obvious as Tatum is light skin Kobe

Nowhere in there was Kuz mentioned

Meh. I still disagree.
Zo (or another guard like Fox) is worth the risk when you got Kuz in the bag.

Yea and who thought that Kuz would’ve been that pick at the end of the first. Like with that logic you saying y’all planned to pick him then no matter what lol

Kuzma wasn't in the bag though. He was drafted end of the first round. What you talking about man

We talking hindsight?
How do you know they weren’t targeting him as the wing they wanted with one of their two late round 1sts?

They were mainly focused on guards with the 2 pick. Fultz, Ball or Fox.

Lakers didn't need a SF so why would they pick Tatum? And they got Kuz anyway. That's like saying the Celtics goofed passing on Jamal Murray.

Lakers made a mistake. They thought Zo was the best player available, they were wrong looking back. And that’s ok, mistakes like this happen all the time. At this point we know Tatum Fox Mitchell are better. That may change in the future but I doubt it.

I just refuse to believe Ingram had anything to do with us not taking Tatum. If they really thought Tatum would be this good they’d have taken him and traded Ingram a la Kobe/Eddie Jones

Lavar with the help of the Wilson basketball scammed the entire laker organization.
