Someone remind me why I’m trolling when I say this is the most impressive scoring run/season any of us have seen?

They're just gonna say the pace of the game is faster. Even though when you look at it per possession (which adjusts for pace) he's still scoring more than anyone (possession data goes back to '74).

Speaking of scoring, i understand that Wilt dominated in his era. We hear up and down about his 100 point game, one of the GOATS, could score and defend on anyone, and every other superlative possible. but Im a shade over 33 and know nothing about basketball eras prior to the early 90s.

someone school me real quick: wilt putting up those types of averages in the 90s/2000s/now? I’m sure the basketball purist of this thread have pondered this

He's the greatest athlete to walk the earth. Imagine a Anthony Davis on steroids. 32-35 a game easy.

He wouldn't put up 50 a game in the 90s and 2000s, the pace had dropped off too much. But now? With the rules to where you can't touch anybody? Nobody would be able to stop him in today's game. It would be a joke.

First time I saw him play was when I visited my son in college. It was like a grown man playing with children. He would be a 25/12 guy for sure now.

It's a different game. Wilt would not get as many touches today as he did early in his career. Back then all offense ran through the post, with the post player having the first option to either shoot, or set up another player. With Wilt playing with the Globetrotters after college, he got to play the middle in the fashion that Meadowlark Lemon did. Since today's NBA, Golden State in particular, uses the Globetrotter style offense, albeit running it through guards instead of the center, Wilt would be more like Dray Greene today. He could lead the break and finish at the rim. Chamberlain was a great athlete, fast runner and had hops. He could do a triple double with no problem in today's game, especially from the rebounding perspective.

Given what Wilt did its nuts that Mike is the leading ppg scorer.

How much higher is Mike's PPG if you take out the wizards years? I think that's what's even crazier is that he leads it with those 2 seasons in there. A season 8 below his average, and the last one 10 below his average and still leads all time in PPG. :smokin
