[Done crying? Read about how Dwyane Wade engineered the ultimate NBA retirement tour]

The premise of the ad is simple enough: Wade has been collecting players’ jerseys all season during his farewell tour to decorate a wall of his house. Budweiser told Wade they had five more jerseys to finish his wall — inviting him to American Airlines Arena and being surprised at mid-court.

Those final five spots were filled by people whose lives were changed because of Wade’s actions off the court.

  • The sister of a victim lost in the Parkland shooting. Joaquin Oliver’s favorite player was Wade, and the NBA superstar wrote the boy’s name on his shoes for a game to honor his memory.
  • A woman whose house burned down before Christmas. Wade took them on a shopping spree.
  • A man whose life was going down a dark path. Until Wade’s words inspired him to change everything.
  • A woman who desperately wanted to go to college, but couldn’t afford it. Until Wade’s organization gave her a full-tuition scholarship.
  • Wade’s own mother, Jolinda Wade — who struggled with addiction, went to prison, and turned her life around through the help of her son.
Wade’s mother closes the ad on the eve of Wade’s retirement with a statement that will reverberate for decades to come:

“I am more proud of the man you have become than the basketball player. You are bigger than basketball.”

He averaged 39/8/8 on 49%. He put up 49/6/8 on 20-30 shooting and it still wasn't enough. Idk why he didn't just put up 55/10/12 instead.

Was just talking to a buddy about how that magic team was ahead of its time with the 4 out one in. Hedo and Rashard Lewis were stretching the floor and murdering them from the outside. Had shooters at every position with Dwight holding down the rim. It was a really well built team and SVG executed it extremely well.

3 of those games vs the Magic were decided by 2 points or less, Magic won 2 of them. Don't wanna hear he put up such and such in a losing effort where games were clearly winnable. Kobe put up 32/6/7 against them and got the same team outta there in 5.

not the same. Kobe was heated for a year straight to get to that series. Dude was angry literally every single game. Were up 2-0 and still mean to reporters lmaooo.

different animal.

If Dirk announced his retirement early like Wade and Kobe he would have definitely gotten way more love than wade.

Nah, I doubt that. Wade has a lot of personal relationships around the league and that Heatles team empowered a lot of these players.

True. But still Mo was putting up 18 a game just like Pau was. Delonte was putting up 15 a game similarly to LO who was putting up 13. Ariza and Varejao were a wash at 11 and 10 points. Both teams got similar production from the supporting casts vs the Magic. Lakers executed in the close games and the Cavs didn't. Let's not make the Magic out to be some juggernaut cause they weren't.

Casual reminder basketball is a team sport by the way. It’s worth considering.

As I correct that only guys who got waived/cut before a date back in March are eligible to play in the playoffs? So, Clippers signed this guy to have another body at practice?

Likely signed him to have his rights in the summer.

Lebron wins...it's all about Lebron, look at what he single handedly did, carrying bums, GOAT.

Lebron loses...it's a team game, excuses.

Only superstar that gets this benefit.

In the first one, LeBron made the go-ahead basket with 25 seconds left. In the second one, LeBron made the game-winning shot at the buzzer. In the third one, LeBron made 2 free throws to tie the game with 0.5 seconds left. Excellent point, though.

Kobe put up 32/6/7 against them and got the same team outta there in 5.

Wow, it's almost like he had a significantly better team and coach.

Despite the fact LeBron has single handedly done some incredible things no one has ever done before LeBron has never single handedly won a championship. No one has.

If you wanna go argue with lames who think LeBron has done that, idk why someone would want to, but go ahead I guess. Not my time.

It's fax and part of the story. What's wrong? Best record in the league 2 years in a row and not making the finals not disappointing? At the very least he went bizarro Bron after game 3 of that Boston series in 2010.
So Giannis not making the Finals this year is disappointing? Got it.

Wade was a great player and competitor. Being in South FL during the Heatles era was insufferable from their fans but he and Bosh in particular were always a fun watch. He's top 3 at his position all time and the story of basketball can't be written without mentioning him. Salute to a great career that he literally gave his body for.
