Could've easily waited until the summer to deal KP. You traded your best asset for cap space to go after stars. It just didn't make sense for a team with a terrible record and history of striking out in FA. Now, you're stuck with the cap space and either signing a superstar with a devastating injury or striking out completely, and you no longer have that asset. A DSJ + Barrett + Knox core is not close to Atlanta's young core.
Let the record show I never made a comparison between the Knicks and Hawks. I'm not even sure why this is even still a topic. Trae Young is head and shoulders better than anyone on the Knicks. Who is arguing against what y'all are saying?

You could be right about using him as an asset in the offseason, but I don't think the Knicks were in a position to do that, nor do I think they thought it was worth it.

KP has had diva tendancies since he got here. His brother/agent does all the talking for him. On top of that the Knicks knew he was dealing with rape allegations, so I imagine all of those factors made it an easier decision from Perry/Mills.

Honestly, I'm not sure his value was ever going to be better than 2 first rounders (1 unprotected), a young asset and riding us of 2 bad contracts. Whether or not we sign specific players has no holding on the outcome of the trade for me. You traded for assets/flexibility, and you got that.

They traded to chase KD + another max player. We don't have to be coy about it. I just think that they would've been able to get the same or similar deal by waiting 2 months if that's what you really wanted. They bet on getting KD and now he's damaged goods. Just not smart GM'ing, IMO.

I didn't really read y'all whole Hawks back and forth, just responded to that post I saw.

no they couldn't have. that deal had to take place on the day it did. knicks had no choice. in turn they got rid of a big dickhead and bad contracts which freed up cap space.

of course it made complete sense to clear the books and attempt to land a free agent. no one could have predicted who would land the #1 or that kd would've injured himself trying to be the hero. knicks were unlucky with those situations, but that's all that was - bad luck, rather than the narrative that some seem intent on pushing as if that bad luck was a reflection of a poorly run franchise. knicks didn't make those situations happen. they happened all on their own

stuck? knicks aren't intent on signing just anyone. this is a new management team who ain't trying to get caught up with bad contracts anymore. this **** doesn't happen overnight

The timing of the KP trade is an odd thing to take issue with. The return was iffy and the end result's not going to be what they hoped, but it 100% made sense to get out from under THJ and Lee if you had the opportunity.

The larger issue is their continued burning of relationships with star players. Is that fixed under the new management? Maybe. Maybe not. Time will tell.

Yeaaaa, he gone

Andre iguodala getting traded or has he been traded?

Iggy ain’t going nowhere. He’s playing this year out and then retiring.

You don’t talk like he’s talking and write a book if you not retiring soon

Only reason he isn’t retiring now is cuz he still has 15 million to make this season courtesy of Bob Myers & Joe Lacob :pimp:
