Wait...this Knicks vs Hawks thing is even serious?
Serious question, do you honestly think that most Knicks fans are disappointed if we don't sign anyone in a year where the best FA literally just tore his Achilles a few weeks ago?
I can only speak for myself, but this offseason I'd be happiest if we didn't go all in on a 4 year deal with either a dude recovering from one of the worst injuries in sports or a second tier talent that is only going to hurt our lottery chances next year.
We traded Kristaps because he tore his ACL at 7'3" and came in demanding a trade literally the morning after the Knicks played the Mavs. This was in the works for a while, and the front office was definitely not super eager to offer him a big contract when he turns down the QO this summer which is why there was already a deal on the table (The Mavs were probably colluding too to be honest, but you could tell KP didn't want to be here for a while if you were paying attention). So either we resign KP who hasn't really proven himself and hope he completely recovers from an ACL tear, or we move him for assets and cap room...which is what we did.
Explain to me the best option in this scenario? If we force KP to stay and still pay him out before he returns from his injury, you're saying they didn the right thing right now...right?
I find that hard to believe.
The free agency market is something that the front office played into at times (rarely honestly. If anything they've stayed consistent in saying they would stay the course and continue to be opportunistic. If an opportunity doesn't reveal itself, you don't force it) but that was mainly a national media thing. It's the same game they play every year of putting the Knicks into every story, and y'all recognize it...it's just funnier to run with a false narrative that if the Knicks don't spend all their money this off season they failed again.
You're smarter than that, but get your jokes off.
Not saying anyone is making anything up, it's just funny how much vigor you had when you were comparing to the Knicks vs when asked your expectations for the team going forward.
I'm not debating the point, I'm just not even sure why this is such a sticking point.

Did the Knicks not put a picture of Kd in their season renewal package for 2019-2020?
Did the Knicks not pen a letter to season ticket holders that we have enough room to sign 2 max free agents this summer?
They missed.
For real, for real Knicks fans catch a lot of jokes cuz @Based Jesus and @Nickwhatever talk a lot of ****.
Why would they hate the Clippers?
Everything he said makes sense.

Are you guys gonna criticize kawhi the same way you guys did LeBron last summer if he chooses the clippers? Both would have chosen worse of the possible available teams to join in regards to winning.
Philly for Bron. Lakers for Kawhi
Got a buddy who is a contractor. When LA Live was being built (the area across the street from Staples) ESPN was bidding aggressively for the largest space for their LA HQ. They actually had it and the signage started going up. Then, in the 11th hour, Ballmer made a deal and took the space to make the Microsoft theater. ESPN had to switch over to the opposite side and they’ve hated Microsoft/Ballmer ever since. Once Ballmer purchased the Clippers the anti-Clipper talk went through the roof.
you're better than this HIM
Nah cuz Kawhi and the Clippers are way more likable than Lebron and the Lakers
Come on son. Stop asking questions you know the answer to. You know how it goes
Honestly always thought Maasai leaving the Raptors was a long shot. He’s in as good a situation as a GM can be, really.
Toronto was always his dream job. By winning it all and having success his dream might change but it'd have to be an offer he couldn't walk away from.Honestly always thought Maasai leaving the Raptors was a long shot. He’s in as good a situation as a GM can be, really.
Could've easily waited until the summer to deal KP. You traded your best asset for cap space to go after stars. It just didn't make sense for a team with a terrible record and history of striking out in FA. Now, you're stuck with the cap space and either signing a superstar with a devastating injury or striking out completely, and you no longer have that asset. A DSJ + Barrett + Knox core is not close to Atlanta's young core.We traded Kristaps because he tore his ACL at 7'3" and came in demanding a trade literally the morning after the Knicks played the Mavs. This was in the works for a while, and the front office was definitely not super eager to offer him a big contract when he turns down the QO this summer which is why there was already a deal on the table (The Mavs were probably colluding too to be honest, but you could tell KP didn't want to be here for a while if you were paying attention).
