That's probably not the first - or last - time Riley is going to publicly catch hell from other coaches for this.

Why would it negatively impact Pitt's recruiting? Because they're scrambling to find NIL opportunities to keep him there and telling other coaches to stop trying to talk their kids into the portal?

Did Addison officially enter before yesterday's deadline?
- Rumor is Addison entered but no one will know until Pitt files his paperwork. The rumor is also that Pitt hasn’t done so yet and has been delaying it, but we’ll know by tomorrow.

- negatively impact them because it’s not the first time Narduzzi has done this, and it’s actually the second time he’s tried to publicly shame Addison into staying. He has a habit of taking it personally when kids want to transfer. Considering there were already complaints lodged about the way he interacted with kids this could be another bad look:

I don’t read anything I’ve seen from Narduzzi as publicly shaming Addison into staying.

I read almost all of it as “sick of people reaching out to kids we’ve recruited/developed”.

Am I missing something?

He knew about Addison and USC because Jordan told him. He’s hoping that by outing him and causing this kind of blow back he’ll feel embarrassed and decide to stay. It’s possessive ex stuff.

It’s also disingenuous on his part because he knows the game and he’s done the same thing. He also didn’t keep the same energy with Notre Dame and Pickett. Or Kentucky and Addison. Or Texas and OU and Addison last year when his WR coach and the same Caleb Williams tried to pull him away. He’s doing this now because he’s scared Addison is actually going to leave.

I asked if it’ll affect him negatively, rhetorically, because a free ride is a free ride and even known *** holes are still pulling kids to their school. But it can’t be a good look.

I think, largely, we might just have to accept this is gonna happen more and more often.

Like you said, this is consecutive years now he’s had to deal with it.

Coaches at “lesser” P5s are going to get tired of Saban and Lincoln and whomever else raiding their rosters every year.

They’re ultimately going to have to kinda suck it up and deal with it, but I also don’t know what we expect them to do or how we expect them to respond.

I understand both sides of the argument. One hand, this must be incredibly frustrating to the universities like Pitt. Or already at such a disadvantage against top teams when it comes to recruiting players out of high school and now even if you happen to develop and All-American, you have to worry about another teams just snatching them from your roster.

That being said, I understand the flip side of it because coaches and coordinators (like Pitt's OC and WR coach) leave for better opportunities at the drop of a hat as well.

Danny Kanell said Narduzzi told him about 10-12 teams that tampered with Addison.

Why are he and Narduzzi only yelling about USC? I understand that’s not what you or people care about but it’s a big part of the point in this whole thing. And Kanell realizes that cuz now he’s copping pleas like “it just feels different,” and “well of course the SEC is doing it too, but they’re better at hiding it which is why people are mad at usc!”

But he just said Narduzzi knew about 12 schools. Sounds like they’re cooperating in the hiding.

These idiots keep missing the point. They keep talking bout contracts and buy outs and franchise tags. Until they acknowledge they’re for profit entities and the kids are employees how are they going to enforce any of this?

People have literally been *****ing about the SEC doing this FOR YEARS.

Are we really trying to act like nobody cares because it's the SEC?

This one really hurts. He took to Instagram the other day and posted that he doesn't plan to sign with another HBCU or FCS level team. He posted that after Deion Sanders made an IG post of his own trying to persuade him to stay at FAMU.

Some have said that Georgia is one of the main schools trying to snatch him away. I also believe that he's jumping ship due to the lack of HBCU players being drafted.

I must have missed it. There was an ESPN article with a head coach calling Saban and Jimbo out specifically by name for tampering with players?

Please link the CBS and ESPN emergency specials on how this new age of tampering and paying for players in the SEC has finally ruined CFB?

Did you sleep through all of the last year where A&M was crucified for spending $30,000,000 on a recruiting class and was the media's token example of all that is wrong with new college football?

People in the media and college football landscape haven't been *****ing for years about how dirty the SEC is about talent acquisition?

"Lincoln and Saban warned you all what was coming!" and then get upset when other coaches call him out by name. Come on, man.

I know none of this is being discussed at all objectively, but if you truly believe "A&M spent more ($30M) on a recruiting class because they're desperate" and "USC is cheating and stealing players from other team's rosters" are the same kinds of criticism this discussion is pointless. If you don't understand why USC fans are angry about this, given history, then this discussion is pointless.

You're right the coverage has been completely the same.

If there is a person that deserves your attention or energy, I can assure you that Danny Kannell is not that person

He is a known troll and is simply driving clicks and attention, as that will likely drive folks towards his podcasts and whatnot, and get him media spots

We in this here thread are far too cultured to get dragged into that mess

Until Kiper finds some random kid from Cal Poly Tech who had 2k yards with 17td/8 picks that he tries to push to the top spot like every year
What happened to Carson Strong? Just injury concerns? He had so much early season hype.
