I’m not big on discrediting any championship.

I do hope the league learns their lesson from this past season though and the two finals participants get a reasonable amount of rest.

If starting the season in mid to late November isn’t manageable. Setting the schedule up so the finals participants get a light schedule to start would be practical. Limit their back to backs to later in the season and ease their load the first month or so.

So they feed Ayton to start.



With Bud switching everything Book was able to get away from Jrue with ease & draw Khris/Lopez/Forbes instead. Much more favorable. A few of these were cross matches in transition so credit to Phoenix for not walking it up.

So Bud has already benched Lopez & now to start the 4th he pulls Portis for the rest of the game.

Giannis now at the 5, CP on the bench, Payne & Book out there & they make some questionable decisions & the Bucks make a run to cut it to 7 with 7 left, Payne goes to the bench, CP/Book on the floor now to close it out.

Pat & Forbes are the new weak links with this Bucks lineup so CP/Book get right to work to close out the game:




Defensively, the Bucks have no real answer, no different from any good team with modern guards. Trae Young was tearing people up the entire playoffs presenting a similar conundrum.

You switch, they dance into their spots at 10-15 feet.

You drop, they walk into their spots.

You show/hedge & try to recover & you’re exposed to the pocket pass/lob.

Bud tried all 3 of these and got killed.

You can also pre-switch, but can get it to Ayton on a small & he’s been finishing everything all season.

You can go zone, but they have shooters 1-4.

Bud can cut Lopez/Portis mins, but then a lot of those mins will fall to Pat, Forbes, & Teague all of whom are gonna get picked on like we saw.

So there’s nothing you can really do every single possession.

Bud will probably go zone/pre-switch to change it up & briefly throw them off for a few possessions.

But consistently the only thing they’ll probably do is more Giannis at the 5, and they’ll show/hedge on Book specifically every time & challenge him to deliver that pocket pass.

Book/CP also have a tendency to ignore Ayton after the 1st quarter, so he might go with a mixture of pre-switching or Giannis at the 5 and you catch them not properly hunting mismatches/burning too much clock trying to find someone.

Outside of that you’re praying that CP’s touch on the midrange/3 is off and that Book falls in love with iso play against Jrue who should be fighting over every screen instead of just handing Book off to someone else
